We, a collective composed of volunteers from various professional backgrounds such as academics, filmmakers, artists, and students from Hamburg, have set ourselves the goal of providing a platform for Kurdish cinema in Hamburg.

It is time to add color to gray screens and give sound to silent films. The diversity that Kurdish cinema now showcases highlights its potential to bridge divides and foster understanding.

We aim to create a space where people can share their stories: women, resistance, and witnesses of ongoing crimes against humanity are frequently featured themes in Kurdish filmmaking. Since 2005, we have been witnessing the diverse development of Kurdish cinema through our annual film festival, now in its 16th edition, with the hope of attracting many visitors, showcasing exciting films, and fostering stimulating discussions.
