Gustavo Serrate – Filmmaker & Director of Photography
Gustavo Serrate is a filmmaker and director of photography, the creator of several independent short films and a collaborator on numerous documentary and corporate film projects. His career in audiovisual storytelling merges a keen artistic vision with a cinematographic approach that emphasizes aesthetics and visual depth.
Among his artistic works, he directed and served as director of photography for the feature films “O Céu Perdeu a Cor” (The Sky Lost Its Color) and “Cavalo Marinho” (Sea Horse). He also worked as director of photography for the acclaimed short film “À Margem do Universo” (At the Edge of the Universe). In addition to fiction and documentary filmmaking, Gustavo has directed dozens of dance films, a form he enjoys exploring for its fusion of movement and cinematography.
In 2024, alongside singer-songwriter Eloá Puri and choreographer Danilo dos Anjos, he engaged in a creative collaboration in Espírito Santo, Brazil, resulting in the music video “Cara”—a fusion of dance, identity, and ancestry.
