Grizzdance Film Festival is thrilled to announce its call for submissions for Grizzdance 2021!

Our mission is to encourage and celebrate young filmmakers from around the globe. For our upcoming festival, we are planning both an in-person event for student filmmakers in the Great Lakes region and continuing our online screening format to highlight the works of emergent international filmmakers. If you are a high school student, college student, or recent alumni we eagerly await your film submissions. With the pandemic continues to stifle film production, we are excited to see just how students have used this time to become even more imaginative in their art. Our call is open to any and all short films (under 20 minutes) you have been making (narratives, documentaries, even a YouTube or TikTok video — be inventive!)

We pride ourselves on being as accessible as possible. To do just that, we always maintain that our submission price remains free!

Grizzdance Film Festival is programmed by a team of Oakland University students with festival and film expertise, working alongside the faculty of the university's film program. The festival experience is designed to facilitate networking and professional development opportunities for emergent filmmakers in the metro Detroit area. We strive to bring together student filmmakers and those alike from around the world, showcasing their skills and abilities in the industry.

Our 2021 festival goals include:

- Providing a showcase for young filmmakers to screen their work in a thoughtfully curated environment with maximum opportunity for feedback from audiences.

- Offering professional development opportunities for emergent filmmakers to expand their artistic networks, interact with fellow filmmakers, and discuss their work with OU Film faculty.

- Recognizing outstanding work at the high school and university level through the awarding of juried prizes

• Eligibility

There is no charge for submission to Grizzdance, but in order to be eligible for selection, filmmakers should be current high school and college students, or recent graduates. Films will be considered eligible for submission so long as one of the creative leads on the project meets this criterion. Please specify which of the filmmakers is a student in your submission, and indicate their school affiliation. Email addresses with school affiliation are preferred.

One of the priorities of the Grizzdance Film Festival is to provide professional development and networking opportunities for emergent filmmakers, and to that end, we strongly encourage filmmakers whose films are programmed to attend the festival. Relatedly, filmmakers who reside within the Great Lakes area will be given priority consideration. This is not to dissuade outside filmmakers from submitting virtually, as online festivities are a new and critical component of the world.

Only online screeners will be accepted for consideration.

With the submission of this film I agree to the following:

-- I am authorized to submit this film to Grizzdance Film Festival for consideration.
-- I (or a member of my creative team) meet the conditions for eligibility outlined above.
-- I have obtained all necessary rights and clearances, including music copyrights.
-- I have read, understand and agree to all the requirements as stated in the above "General Festival Rules."

I'm so thrilled to be part of Grizzdance Film Festival! So lucky to watch a lot of wonderful films! It's just a pity that I accidentally missed the Q&A.
In general, the online filmmaker exchange community established by the Film Festival Organizing Committee is very nice. The organizers, professors, and volunteers are also very friendly !
    It is worth participating in!!

A great film festival made by people who are pationated by film making. Even though the film festival wasn't that big, they were actually many film school teachers, producers, and film makers. It was a great experience!

Great festival! My crew and I had been looking forward to this festival for awhile and it didn't disappoint. Good venue, very open and friendly, good people running the event and an all around positive atmosphere for young filmmakers to chit-chat and lay ground work for the future.
