The Centre for Media Studies (CMS), with support from the U.S. Consulate General, Mumbai, invites short films for its ‘Green Frames: VATAVARAN Short Film Competition and Festival 2023’ .The theme of this competition is “Environmental Preservation and Climate Advocacy”. The competition, open exclusively for Indian citizens aims to highlight the urgency of environment/ biodiversity conservation and climate adaptation/mitigation and demonstrate how our lifestyle decisions affect the environment and promote best practices and positive stories that show how individuals, companies, and communities are grappling with environmental and climate challenges and taking action to improve the situation.

School & College Students:
Best Film: A trophy, a commendation, and a non-monetary award equivalent to Rs 25,000.
Two Runner-Up Prizes: A trophy, a commendation, and a non-monetary award equivalent to Rs 10,000 each.

Civil Society Groups & Amateur Filmmakers:
Best Film: A trophy, a commendation, and a non-monetary award equivalent to Rs 25,000.
One Runner-up Prize: A trophy, a commendation, and a non-monetary award equivalent to Rs 15,000.

Professional Filmmakers and Film Studios:
Best Film: A trophy, a commendation, and a non-monetary award equivalent to Rs 50,000.
One Runner-up Prize: A trophy, a commendation, and a non-monetary award equivalent to Rs 25,000.

Participation Criteria: OPEN FOR ONLY INDIAN CITIZENS: The competition, open exclusively for Indian citizens, includes three categories:

School and College Students
Civil Society Groups & Amateur Filmmakers
Professional Filmmakers & Film Studios
Duration: 3 to 7 minutes long (180 to 420 seconds)

Submission of the Short Films: September 01 to November 15, 2023

Language: The Short Film can be made in English or any Indian language with English subtitles.

Eligibility: Short Films, Animations, PSAs, and documentaries created after January 1st 2022.

Submission is free of charge.
