Grasie Mercedes is an Afro-Dominican writer, actress and filmmaker from NYC based in Los Angeles, CA. Grasie began her career at MTV Networks where she oversaw stage and reality programming for five years as a producer and post-producer.
As a writer and filmmaker, Grasie was a staff writer on the first season of the NBC comedy, PERFECT HARMONY. Past filmmaker credits include JUST THE TWO OF US, a dark comedy short that she wrote, co-directed and starred in that won the Audience Award at the 2021 Atlanta Film Festival. A COVID-19 LOVE STORY, a short film shot entirely on iPhones in two separate locations with co-collaborated Matthew Law. Shot and completed in March 2020, just weeks into quarantine, it garnered some viral attention plus a story on ABC7 Los Angeles. POSTMATE, a quirky, COVID-inspired short she wrote and directed that was available for viewing on American Airlines flights from 2022-2023. EGG DAY, a dark comedy short based on her personal experience with IVF. It was Grasie’s directorial film debut.
Recently, Grasie was a series regular on the NBC comedy GRAND CREW, where she played “Fay,'' a divorced dancer, new to Los Angeles. Her current projects include a television series based on her life as an Afro-Latina who’s never quite fits in, a rom-com feature about a woman who falls in love with her sperm donor and a dramedy feature about three half-sisters who meet for the first time at their dad’s funeral.
