BASES PARA LA PARTICIPACIÓN DE OBRAS EN LA #9 EDITION
DEL GFFF - GALICIAN FREAKY FILM FESTIVAL
PARTICIPACIÓN
El GFFF - Galician Freaky Film Festival, Festival Internacional de Cine Freak y Fantástico de Vigo, abre la convocatoria de inscripción de obras para su #9 edition que tendrá lugar del 19 al 27 de septiembre de 2025.
Podrá participar cualquier persona física, empresa, asociación o grupo no formal sin restricción de edad, nacionalidad o de cualquier otro tipo. No hay límite en el número de trabajos presentados por autor o autora.
La fecha límite para enviar obras será el 13 de mayo do 2025, a las 23:59 (CET) y deberán inscribirse a través de alguna de las siguientes opciones:

CONDICIONES PARA LA PARTICIPACIÓN EN LA SELECCIÓN OFICIAL Y SELECCIÓN OFICIAL PEQUEFREAK
El equipo de programación tendrá únicamente en consideración los cortometrajes que reúnan las siguientes condiciones:
Los cortometrajes presentados deberán estar adscritos a la temática terror, fantasía, ciencia ficción, comedia o “freak”.
Las obras también podrán ir dirigidas a un público infantil y/o familiar (Sección Pequefreak) siempre que entren dentro de los géneros descritos anteriormente.
La duración mínima de la obra será de 60’’ y con una duración máxima de 30’.
Podrán participar obras cuyo año de producción sea 2023 o posterior.
Podrán participar obras que respeten la igualdad, diversidad y la no discriminación.
No se aceptará la inscripción de cortometrajes presentados y/o seleccionados en anteriores ediciones del festival.
Las obras en cualquier idioma diferente del español o gallego deberán estar subtituladas en cualquiera de estas dos lenguas o, en su defecto, adjuntarse una transcripción de los diálogos en inglés, castellano o en su idioma correspondiente.
* El festival ofrece el servicio de creación de subtítulos en español y/o gallego para aquellas obras extranjeras que carezcan de subtítulos. Los precios podrán ser consultados con la organización del festival en el e-mail programacion@galicianfreakyfestival.com.
Aquellos títulos que sean seleccionados recibirán la confirmación, por parte del Departamento de Programación del festival, para formalizar su participación. El festival no comunicará de manera individualizada la “no selección” de los trabajos. Quedarán fuera de las distintas secciones aquellos títulos que no sean citados en los comunicados oficiales (web del festival y RRSS) o que no recibieran el requerimiento de la organización.
La distribuidora o particular que inscribe el cortometraje para su participación en el festival deberá proporcionar material publicitario: fotogramas, póster, fotografía del realizador/a, biofilmografía y listado de selecciones y premios, así como fragmentos de la obra, para que la organización pueda promocionar el film adecuadamente en sus soportes de difusión y medios de comunicación.
PROYECCIÓN
Las obras seleccionadas serán exhibidas durante la realización de la #9 edition del Galician Freaky Film Festival en Vigo (Galicia-España).
La organización del Festival decidirá los días y horarios de proyección, que podrán variar en función de las necesidades de este. De concurrir, los cambios serán oportunamente comunicados.
La organización se reserva la posibilidad de proyectar o mostrar obras seleccionadas en el Galician Freaky Film Festival en otros festivales y exhibiciones, en colaboración con la organización del GFFF, para la difusión del mismo. En todo caso, se informará de que son obras presentadas al Galician Freaky Film Festival y siempre se solicitará permiso previo a los propietarios de las obras.
PROYECCIÓN ONLINE
Desde el año 2020, el GFFF tiene un festival complementario online, permitiendo mostrar las obras a la audiencia del festival. La seguridad y calidad son claves para la organización del GFFF, que colabora con proveedores de streaming especializados del máximo nivel.
La organización se reserva la posibilidad de realizar una versión online del festival previo consentimiento de los responsables de las obras seleccionadas. La participación es opcional, más recomendable.
La audiencia del GFFF es internacional pero se establecerían geo-restricciones en la difusión de los filmes en la plataforma.
En el caso de celebrarse la exhibición online de los cortometrajes de la Selección Oficial esta será bajo PPV en la plataforma Festhome y los contenidos estarían disponibles entre el 20 y el 29 de septiembre de 2025.
PREMIOS Y DECISIONES DEL JURADO Y DEL PÚBLICO
PREMIOS DEL JURADO
Un Jurado de prestigio formado por profesionales relacionados con el cine y el audiovisual elegirá las obras ganadoras de la Selección Oficial competitiva, otorgando los siguientes premios:
Gran Premio GFFF, al cortometraje más freak, dotado además con un premio económico de 250€.
Premio BEN DITO, al mejor guion.
Premio CREA, a la mejor realización.
Premio NEURONAS FRITIDAS, al cortometraje más extremo o turbio.
Además, el Jurado se reservará la posibilidad de conceder menciones especiales para resaltar aspectos técnicos y artísticos de las películas en competición.
Los premios podrán ser compartidos (ex aequo).
PREMIOS DEL PÚBLICO
Para la presente edición los premios do público serán:
Premio OLIMPO DOS FREAKS, al cortometraje mejor valorado por el público, dotado además con un premio económico de 250€.
Premio ARREPÍO, al mejor cortometraje de terror.
Premio ESCARÁLLOME, al mejor cortometraje de humor.
Premio OLIMPO DOS PEQUEFREAKS, al mejor cortometraje infantil, dotado de un premio económico de 200€
Premio GALICIAN FREAK al mejor cortometraje gallego, dotado de un premio económico de 200€
Las decisiones del jurado y de aquellos con poder para tomar decisiones sobre los premios son inapelables.
El pago del premio así como el envío de la estatuilla a las personas responsables de los trabajos ganadores correrán a cargo de la organización del festival. El pago se realizará a través de PayPal o transferencia bancaria. En caso de que el pago o el envío del premio no sea posible por motivos ajenos a la organización, se facilitará un segundo envío y pago del premio asumiendo los costes la persona responsable del trabajo ganador.
6. ACEPTACIÓN DE LAS BASES Y RESPONSABILIDADES LEGALES
La inscripción de obras a este concurso supone la total aceptación de las bases.
La persona o entidad que inscriba la obra será la única responsable de la misma en materia de derechos de autor y/o responsabilidades civiles, penales o de cualquier índole u orden jurisdiccional y/o administrativa derivadas de su contenido.
El Festival se reserva el derecho de realizar excepciones puntuales sobre estas normas. Las cuestiones no previstas en estas bases se resolverán a criterio del jurado, de la organización del festival y/o de A.C. Abella Producións.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE #9 EDITION
OF THE GFFF - GALICIAN FREAKY FILM FESTIVAL
PARTICIPATION
The GFFF - Galician Freaky Film Festival, International Freak and Fantastic Film Festival of Vigo, opens the call for submissions for its #9 edition that will take place from September 19th to 27th, 2025. Any individual, company, association, or informal group may participate without age, nationality, or other restrictions. There is no limit to the number of works submitted per author.
The deadline for submitting works will be May 13th, 2025, at 23:59 (CET), and must be registered through one of the following options:
Free submission through the Festival's website.
Festhome.
FilmFreeway.
CONDITIONS FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE OFFICIAL SELECTION AND PEQUEFREAK OFFICIAL SELECTION
The programming team will only consider short films that meet the following conditions:
Short films must be related to the genres of horror, fantasy, science fiction, comedy, or "freak".
Works may also be aimed at children and/or family audiences (Pequefreak Section) as long as they fall within the abovementioned genres.
The minimum duration of the work should be 60'' with a maximum duration of 30'.
Works produced in 2023 or later may participate.
Works must respect equality, diversity, and non-discrimination.
Registration of short films presented and/or selected in previous editions of the Festival will not be accepted.
Works in any language other than Spanish or Galician must be subtitled in either of these two languages or, failing that, include a transcript of the dialogues in English, Spanish, or their corresponding language.
* The Festival offers Spanish and/or Galician subtitling services for foreign works without subtitles. Prices can be consulted with the festival organization at programacion@galicianfreakyfestival.com.
Selected titles will receive confirmation from the Festival's Programming Department to formalize their participation. The Festival will not individually communicate the "non-selection" of works. Titles that are not mentioned in official communications (festival website and social media) or that have not received the organization's request will be excluded from the different sections.
The distributor or individual submitting the short film must provide promotional materials: film stills, poster, director's photo, filmography, and list of selections and awards, as well as film excerpts so that the organization can adequately promote the film in its promotional platforms and media.
SCREENING
Selected works will be exhibited during the #9 edition of the Galician Freaky Film Festival in Vigo (Galicia-Spain).
The Festival organization will decide the screening days and times, which may vary according to its needs. Any changes will be duly communicated.
The organization reserves the right to screen or show selected works from the Galician Freaky Film Festival at other festivals and exhibitions, in collaboration with the GFFF organization, for its promotion. In all cases, they will be identified as works presented at the Galician Freaky Film Festival, and prior permission will always be requested from the owners of the works.
ONLINE SCREENING
Since 2020, the GFFF has included a complementary online festival, allowing works to be shown to the festival audience. Security and quality are key priorities for the GFFF organization, which collaborates with top-level specialized streaming providers.
The organization reserves the possibility of conducting an online version of the Festival with prior consent from those responsible for the selected works. Participation is optional but recommended.
The GFFF audience is international, but geo-restrictions would be established for the films' distribution on the platform.
If the online exhibition of the Official Selection of short films takes place, it will be under PPV on the Festhome platform, and the content will be available between September 20th and 29th, 2025.
AWARDS AND DECISIONS OF THE JURY AND AUDIENCE
JURY AWARDS
A prestigious Jury composed of film and audiovisual professionals will choose the winning works from the competitive Official Selection, granting the following awards:
GFFF Grand Prize, for the freakiest short film, with a cash prize of 250€.
BEN DITO Award, for best screenplay.
CREA Award, for best direction.
NEURONAS FRITIDAS Award, for the most extreme or disturbing short film.
Additionally, the Jury reserves the right to grant special mentions to highlight technical and artistic aspects of the films in competition.
Awards may be shared (ex aequo).
AUDIENCE AWARDS
For this edition, the audience awards will be:
OLIMPO DOS FREAKS Award, for the highest-rated short film by the audience, with a cash prize of 250€.
ARREPÍO Award, for best horror short film.
ESCARÁLLOME Award, for best comedy short film.
OLIMPO DOS PEQUEFREAKS Award, for best children's short film, with a cash prize of 200€.
GALICIAN FREAK Award for best Galician short film, with a cash prize of 200€.
The decisions of the Jury and those with decision-making power regarding the awards are final.
The organization will handle prize payment and trophy shipping to those responsible for the winning works. Payment will be made via PayPal or bank transfer. If payment or prize delivery is not possible due to circumstances beyond the organization's control, a second delivery and payment will be arranged with costs assumed by the person responsible for the winning work.
ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS AND LEGAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Submission of works to this competition implies full acceptance of these terms.
The person or entity submitting the work will be solely responsible for it regarding copyright and/or civil, criminal, or any other legal or administrative liabilities derived from its content.
The Festival reserves the right to make specific exceptions to these rules. Issues not covered by these terms will be resolved at the discretion of the Jury, festival organization, and/or A.C. Abella Producións.
