GMAC Short Film Festival is a new component of GMAC film for Scottish-based artists with a passion for film and the community. We want to bring films from Scotland’s thriving film scene to Glasgow. The festival’s mandate is to present new films and build local community for artists and filmgoers.

The GMAC Short film festival gives local filmmakers the opportunity to share their work with a citywide audience and celebrate the essence of independent filmmaking. The GMAC Short film festival creates a vibrant platform, and its core values are rooted in fairness and inclusivity, the festival serves as a beacon of opportunity for emerging artists

We are looking for creative, innovative, thought-provoking and entertaining independent films. We are especially interested in films made in Scotland.

Through screenings, filmmaker Q&As, workshops, industry sessions and networking, we bring together industry professionals, film fans and fans of Scottish Arts & Culture alike. We provide a significant platform for Scottish Film and creative talent.

By submitting a film for consideration, you acknowledge you have read and agree to all guidelines listed below.

By submitting (uploading & purchasing a submission to festival), you indicate that you have read, understood, and have complied with all eligibility requirements of GMAC Short Film Festival and the categories of which you are submitting to via FilmFreeway.

No refunds will be given for any submission that asks to withdraw, regardless of reason.

By submitting your film for consideration, you agree for GMAC Short Film Festival to screen your film if it is an official selection.

Submission Format:
Films must be submitted through FilmFreeway or through an online screener link with a valid password (YouTube, Vimeo, etc). Films without a valid password will be deemed invalid and disqualified with no entry fee refund. Hard copies will not be accepted, returned, or seen as an official submission to the GMAC Short Film Festival

By submitting to GMAC Short Film Festival, you acknowledge that your film submitted has obtained all necessary permissions and rights exhibited in the work.

Screenings are scheduled during the festival at the discretion of GMAC Short Film Festival. While every effort will be made to adhere to the published schedule, GMAC Short Film Festival reserves the right to make changes at any time for any reason.

Films produced in other language other than English must have legible English subtitles.

GMAC Short Film Festival is hereby granted the right to utilise image(s) and/or biographical information of the filmmakers and/or the films submitted and accepted for promotional purposes.

All decisions regarding film submission acceptances and award winners are considered final.

If your film is selected, we will contact you through the email provided in your FilmFreeway submission in order to request and download a copy of your submitted and accepted film. Failure to grant request may result in disqualification or not being scheduled.

Please note: Films selected through FilmFreeway will be shown on the Saturday and Sunday of the festival
