Since 2015, the Full Bloom Film Festival has showcased nearly 300 carefully curated films from 34 different countries. Now entering its 5th year, FBFF continues to shed light on global and local communities alike, offering a level of hospitality where each filmmaker feels truly appreciated. Over the course of the four-day festival, filmmakers and festival goers will have a chance to experience a variety of international short and feature-length films, partake in panel events and a filmmaker roundtable, and, of course, enjoy unforgettable parties each night. Each of the festival’s five screening venues is custom upfitted in a historic building located in the heart of downtown Statesville (including the town’s “Old Jail”).

The Full Bloom Film Festival is currently accepting films submissions in the following categories: Narrative Feature, Documentary Feature, Short Narrative, Short Documentary, and Animation. Filmmakers of officially selected films will be given the option of complimentary hotel accommodations (TBA upon selection), as well as assistance getting from and to the Charlotte airport. At the close of the festival, cash prizes will be awarded to winning films in each category, as well as an award for “Best of Fest.”

FBFF 2019 will take place September 19th through September 22nd in and around Historic Downtown Statesville. This nonprofit festival is organized by a committed group of area business leaders, film enthusiasts and volunteers. The festival is a collaborative effort supported by:
-Iredell County Arts Council
-City of Statesville
-Iredell-Statesville Schools
-Mitchell Community College

-Statesville Recreation and Parks Department

Officially selected films will be eligible to receive awards by category, as well as the ranking award for Best of Fest. Prizes will be awarded by a panel of judges based on the film’s overall artistic, narrative, and technical quality.

Winning films in each category will be awarded $250 (Visa gift card or via PayPal).
The winning film for "Best of Fest" will receive $500 (Visa gift card or via PayPal).

The warmth and hospitality of Full Bloom is absolutely astounding and second to none. You're treated like an old friend and feel like a member of the family by the time you leave.

Caity Gordon and her team are so genuinely passonate about the festival, the films and everyones experience that it comes through in each event. The program was bold, brave and inspiring, with a fantastic mix of films from around the globe and you can feel how much care has gone into each selection, with every category well thought out.

Considering there was a hurricaine on the festivals doorstep this year, the screenings were very well attended and extremely well organised. I also want to say how fantastic the festival was at making sure all filmmakers would be taken care off should their flights be cancelled because of the weather.

Full Bloom is one of those gems of the festival circuit that I cannot recommend highly enough!

  • A great festival that, excuse the pun, is blooming into something homegrown, nurtured, and plentiful. With a programme that both entertains and is varied it's always a joy when we have a client screen here. This festival may be small now, but it's only going to grow!

As far as I'm concerned, this festival is unparalleled in hospitality compared to other festivals I have attended. Not only did they pick me up from the Charlotte airport, drive me an hour up to the festival, house me, feed me, and provide an open bar at nightly after parties, but after Hurricane Florence swept through my hometown of Wilmington (an event that happened during the festival), they assisted me by providing a free place to stay for an additional 5 days while I waited for flood waters to clear from the roads leading back home.

Beyond that, the quality of selected films was impressive and the after parties were a blast. Their attention to detail was meticulous and though they were only in their fourth year, it seemed as if they'd been around for ten. I can't recommend this festival enough.

Honestly, this was the best festival experience I've ever had. The hospitality was jaw-dropping. The energy of the staff was warm and inviting. And the screening venues were really fascinating/lively. As soon as we arrived, we were met by hugs, smiles, and affirming comments about our film. Not only had they seen it, they were articulate about why they loved it. This type of energy and attentiveness is a filmmaker's dream. I've never felt so appreciated and cared for. A week has past since the festival, and I remain incredibly grateful for the gift of this festival. Thank you Full Bloom! Side note: their programming was also top-notch and very internationally-minded.
