Based in the lively neighborhood of San Salvario, Turin, Freak gives a voice to young people who feel unheard, unseen, and marginalized by society.
For us, being a "freak" means refusing to conform, turning discomfort into art, and embracing unique identities with pride.
Through bold films, live music, performances, and workshops, we create a vibrant space where diverse stories collide and spark vital conversations.
The Festival is committed to promoting psychosocial well-being through an inclusive and participatory cultural experience.

An open invitation to anyone who feels "too different" for mainstream standards but perfectly at home with us.

Freak Film Festival è molto più di un evento cinematografico: è un atto di ribellione.
Nato a Torino, nel cuore pulsante di San Salvario, il nostro festival è un grido collettivo che attraversa film, musica e spettacolo per rivendicare l'esistenza di chi troppo spesso viene messo ai margini.
Cos'è un freak?
Per noi, è chi rifiuta di uniformarsi, chi abbraccia la propria diversità come forza, chi trasforma il disagio in bellezza.
In un gioco di specchi tra identità differenti, Freak Film Festival crea uno spazio di confronto, espressione e resistenza, dando voce ai giovani che si sentono inascoltati in una società che li ignora.

Il Festival si impegna a promuovere il benessere psicosociale attraverso un'esperienza culturale inclusiva e partecipata.
Un invito aperto a chi si sente "troppo diverso" per i canoni, ma perfettamente a casa tra di noi.

Awards & Prizes

The Reborn Freak award will be given to the best short film in competition.

The winner will receive a special physical prize, created to embody the spirit of the Freak Film Festival.

Il premio Reborn Freak sarà assegnato al miglior cortometraggio in concorso.

Il vincitore riceverà un premio fisico speciale, creato per incarnare lo spirito del Freak Film Festival.

Rules & Terms

!!!READ CAREFULLY!!!

1) The festival is structured in this following category:
Short Films Competition (from 1 to 25 minutes)


2) Eligible films doesn’t have to be related to a specific film genres

3) Each author is responsible for the contents of its own work.

4) If the dialogues of the film are not in Italian, the film must be completed by Italian or English subtitles.

5) In case of selection, we'll reach out privately to ask for all required materials for promotional, subtitling and screening purpose. The screening copy of the films must be provided to the festival at least 14 days in advance on the beginning of the event.

6) Once selected, a film can't be withdrawn from the competition.

7) Selected films unable to provide the requested materials and documentation, or that provide them after the specified deadlines, could be dismissed from the selection.

8) The festival will not take charge of trophy and awards shipping in case winners can't attend the day of the proclamation.

9) The festival will not provide any screening fee to authors/distributors of selected films.

10) The demand for participation in the FREAK FILM FESTIVAL 2025 constitutes full and unconditional acceptance of this regulation.

Il festival è strutturato nella seguente categoria:
Concorso Cortometraggi (da 1 a 25 minuti)

I film ammessi non devono necessariamente appartenere a un genere cinematografico specifico.

Ogni autore è responsabile dei contenuti della propria opera.

Se i dialoghi del film non sono in italiano, il film deve essere accompagnato da sottotitoli in italiano o in inglese.

In caso di selezione, contatteremo privatamente gli autori per richiedere tutto il materiale necessario ai fini promozionali, di sottotitolazione e di proiezione. La copia destinata alla proiezione dovrà essere fornita al festival almeno 14 giorni prima dell’inizio dell’evento.

Una volta selezionato, un film non potrà essere ritirato dal concorso.

I film selezionati che non forniranno i materiali e la documentazione richiesta, oppure che li forniranno oltre le scadenze stabilite, potranno essere esclusi dalla selezione.

Il festival non si farà carico della spedizione di trofei e premi nel caso in cui i vincitori non possano essere presenti il giorno della proclamazione.

Il festival non corrisponderà alcun compenso per la proiezione agli autori/distributori dei film selezionati.

La richiesta di partecipazione al FREAK FILM FESTIVAL 2025 implica l'accettazione piena e incondizionata del presente regolamento.
