London Ontario’s Forest City Film Festival celebrates the art of cinema through a regional lens with a focus on national and global films and filmmakers connected to Southwestern Ontario. We honour successes, showcase new, compelling artists and inspire future ones.

We are somewhat focused on the region of Southwestern Ontario, Canada. We are looking for films that have at least one member of the key artistic team that has spent a significant portion of their lives in the area, or films that were filmed in the area or are about the area. Key artistic team includes director, writer, producer, DOP, Sound design, lead actor. Subject matter or setting of the film is not restricted to the region. The film does not have to have been shot in the region.

Official selections are screened to an audience and will earn a percentage of the door if the filmmaker is present at the screening. Win or not, we pay when filmmakers participate!

Each category has a cash prize.

My colleague and I were truly impressed by Dorothy's thoughtful outreach and consideration of us as filmmakers. Even though for us it was virtual, as festival experiences go, this was one of the best.

  • The festival was a rewarding and seamless experience from submission to awards/screenings! Though I was only able to virtually attend one of the several Industy Sessions offered, I learned a ton from it; the panelists gave me a lot of perspective and insight into writing/making short films (something I hadn't considered all that deeply until then).

I also received some valuable feedback on my feature (semi-final) screenplay, which was definitely worth the submission fee. Highly recommended!

Fantastic communication from Iris and a very well organised virtual festival with a wonderful selection of top quality films. I must add what a great closing ceremony. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for screening my first film Mr. Emancipation: The Walter Perry Story and hoping to have another official selection with FCFF down the road

  • Forest City Film Festival handled the switch to virtual quite well. The organizers truly care about the future of their filmmakers and connecting them with seasoned professionals and various networking opportunities. I'm grateful I had the opportunity to participate with my short, "Pressure Play."
