*** EXTENDED DEADLINE: APRIL 10th | FEES WAIVED ***

The Flamingo Film Festival is dedicated to exhibiting international short films produced by student filmmakers. For the past nine installments, this event, held in-person and online from sunny South Florida, has honored outstanding dramatic, documentary, experimental, music video, and animated projects created by students while enrolled in a college, university, or other post-secondary institution. It's the goal of the Flamingo Film Festival to encourage student creativity and recognize achievements in film and video.

In 2020 and 2021, due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, the 7th and 8th editions of the festival moved to Twitch. The 2022 festival, the 9th, was a hybrid event, showcasing student films both in-person and online. For 2023, our celebratory 10th year, we will be back to a face-to-face event.

This year’s festival is scheduled to start at 10 AM (ET), Saturday, April 22, 2023, at FAU's MetroLab in downtown Fort Lauderdale. The film program is TBD. Times, days, delivery methods, locations, etc., are subject to change. In-person events will follow COVID-19 guidelines set by FAU, the State of Florida, and the CDC.

6 – A completed entry form must accompany films. All forms, fees, and films must be received by the submission deadline. Only completed entries will be processed.

CATEGORIES AND AWARDS
1 – Flamingo Film Festival reserves the right and has the discretion to change the submission category for an entry. Further, the festival reserves the right and has the discretion to add award categories and suspend award categories.

2 – The Festival strives to recognize student achievements in film, video, and media. Ergo, the festival is juried and competitive. Payment of the entry fee does not guarantee a screening. Funds collected go to festival expenses. (We work on a micro-budget and have expenses!) The festival jury will present awards to films selected as "best" in whatever categories they see fit. There are no cash awards or honorariums.
