The Flamingo Film Festival is dedicated to exhibiting international short films produced by student filmmakers. For the past eight installments, this event, held in-person and online from sunny South Florida, has honored outstanding dramatic, documentary, experimental, music video, and animated projects created by students while enrolled in a college, university, or other post-secondary institution. It's the goal of the Flamingo Film Festival to encourage student creativity, recognizing achievements in film and video.

In 2020 and 2021, due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, the 7th and 8th editions of the festival moved to Twitch, a streaming platform. The 2022 festival will be a hybrid event, showcasing student films both in-person and online synchronously.

This year’s festival is scheduled to start at 1 PM (ET), Saturday, April 23, 2022, online via Twitch and in-person via FAU's MetroLab in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Film program is TBD, and times, days, delivery methods, locations are subject to change. In-person events will follow COVID-19 guidelines set by FAU, the State of Florida, and the CDC.
