The British and Norman short film festival takes place in Granville at several venues across this former buccaneering port and offers not only screenings, exhibitions, meetings and workshops, but also live music and a fish'n'chips supper! The seaside location of Granville facing channel islands offers a great opportunity to show films that combine British and Norman culture.

Organised by Sillages, the Granville association for cinema promotion, Fish&Films promotes cinema, and more specifically, short films of all genres (fiction, animation, documentary and experimental) to as wide an audience as possible with a selection of films shot in Normandy or the United Kingdom or by Norman or British directors or actors.

The films selected for the competition will be submitted to the vote of high school and college students (High school students’ and students’ prize) or to the public vote (Prix du public). Finally, and this is a new feature, a third film, from one of the two programs, will win... the jury prize! The three winning films will each win 500 euros and a “Trofish”, an original work created by an artist.

I had the most fantastic time at Fish & Films. Beautiful hospitality, beautiful curation and really engaged cinephile audiences. As a Brit, it was a pleasure to meet French filmmakers and make connections as well as seeing British filmmakers I know and respect. A truly wonderful weekend, thank you so much Flora and Maryline!
