An Intimate Celebration of Cinema — Curated by Filmmakers, for Filmmakers

Set against the vibrant backdrop of Belgrade, our festival offers a singular experience designed to honor the art of filmmaking and the creative voices behind it. This is more than a gathering—it's a thoughtfully curated weekend dedicated to fostering genuine connections, creative dialogue, and cinematic discovery.

The festival opens with an elegant welcome reception, setting the stage for a series of curated screenings, each followed by in-depth conversations with attending filmmakers. We place a distinct emphasis on presence—inviting filmmakers to engage directly with our audiences and peers, in an environment that values exchange as much as exhibition.

In addition to our film program, we host a traditional Filmmakers Lunch in the heart of historic Skadarlija. This cultural and culinary experience offers our guests an intimate glimpse into the spirit of Belgrade, while providing a relaxed setting to meet, reflect, and connect beyond the screen.

Here, film is only the beginning. We invite you to join a community where meaningful conversations take center stage, and where every detail is designed to celebrate the filmmaker’s journey.

More than a festival — a space where films meet conversation, and creativity finds its community.

We only have three humble requests:

1. Keep it short and sweet — under 30 minutes

2. Make sure it was born after 2024 — no time travelers, please

3. You gotta own the rights — don’t get us sued, we’re too young for court

  • I had an amazing experience at the Fine Line Film Festival! You can really feel how this festival grows every single year, in scale, energy, and quality. The screenings were held in one of the best cinemas in Belgrade, with good projection and sound, which made watching the films pleasure.

What stood out the most to me was the selection. A perfect balance between strong local productions and international gems. You can tell the programmers truly care about film as an art form and about giving space to diverse voices.

The organizers went above and beyond to make the filmmakers feel welcome. They hosted a lunch for all the authors, which was a great chance to connect and exchange ideas, and the afterparty following the awards ceremony - great vibes, great people, and a real sense of community. it creates a networking spirit and makes the whole experience so much more meaningful.

Overall, Fine Line Film Festival is one of those events that genuinely celebrates cinema and the people behind it.

It’s a warm and well-organized festival with great communication. Unfortunately, I couldn’t be there in person, but I’m very grateful that they appreciated my work. Thank you from the heart for giving our film a new life, and through this award, also giving new life to the stories of the miners it portrays. I truly recommend every filmmaker to submit their film to this beautiful festival!

  • We've heard only great things about this festival from those who have attended, calling it more of a creative camp than a traditional festival. Deep conversations about the issues tackled in the films programmed, a space for creatives to network in natural spaces so no fighting with large sound systems or other venues spilling out. We're hoping to go ourselves one day, but in 2024 we had HOMEMAKER selected.

  • A fantastic festival experience. From the curation of the short film programme, to the opportunity to network and meet filmmakers from across the world. One of the most exciting and passionate festivals we have been to that leaves you eager to keep making films and really values the role of discussing films with like minded people. Organisation was incredible, we were so well looked after. The festival was also a beautiful way to discover Belgrade! Aglaja is a real force - what an achievement to pull this off!
