REGULATIONS EDITION 2024

Close 1. Definition and Purpose

The aim of the Nancy International Film Festival is to present quality content of creators and to promote cinema to the broadcasters, the Medias and the public.
In a general way, the festival affirms its will to discover new content, new film directors and artists.
For this purpose, the festival welcomes among others things, an official International-European documentary film’s selection in competition and outside competition.

The movie registered in the International Competition may be selected for other competitive sections, or not competitive ones, but that are part of the official selection of the festival.

The films and programmes presented for the selection, and competing in the official selection must have been produced since November the 1st of 2022.

Anyone presenting their film to the festival must mention if it is their first film.

Those that can be registered to selection, the documentaries of more than 60 minutes.
Every support (film, video) can compete. The authors may register several realizations, but only one can be selected in the official selection.

For the viewing of the film, a password secured internet link must be given; it must be valid until the end of June 2024, and also with the possibility to download the movie in order to facilitate the process of viewing by the Selection committee.
It is also possible to send copies of the film, or another material support, that mention on the folder the title of the film and the name of the person in contact at the following address before the deadline :

Anyone registering a film guarantees that the information given on the registration file is correct.

The registered files and the copies / the viewing video link must be sent to the festival office until May 31, 2024 (date as per postmark) or by electronic way to the address: programmation@fifnl.com

Close 8. Conditions of registration

Advertising, industrial, or institutional films are not accepted.

Screening format: DCP or numeric files (HD video file MP4/ H264 encoding AVC H264, 1920x 1080).

Currently, all the rooms of the Festival are not equipped for sound 5.1.

All the films that are not shot in French language will have to be sent with a subtitles file (.srt format) in the original language and in English (or in French if possible).

All the film owners have to commit themselves not to withdraw their films from the Festival’s selection.

Close 9. Documentation for the selected films

For each selected film, the following material must be sent after the reception of the selection notice. FIF NANCY reserves the right to use these materials for the Festival’s promotion.
• At least 3 horizontal pictures of the films (numeric pictures, 10 cm x 15 cm, 300 DIP, JPG)
• One photo of the film’s director(s) (numeric pictures, 10 cm x 15 cm, 300 DIP, JPG)
• A Subtitles file (.srt format) in English and/or in French
• A file, either a secured downloading link or 2 Blu-ray copies of the final version of the film in High Quality with, for non French-spaeking films, French Subtitles or a clean version of the film and the subtitles file (.srt format) in English or /and original language.
• A file or a downloading link of the trailer of the film (3 minutes max.)
• A international Title (which will be used by the Festival for all communication either internal or external)
• Posters, flyers and other promotion materials (in numeric format)

Close 10. Selection

Every film registered for the competition will not be able to be withdrawn of the selection. If required, the office of the association reserves the right of a legal action in order to obtain a compensation considered useful and necessary.
The list of the selected films will be available on the Festival’s website on July 13, 2024 at the latest.
Every contact of the registered films will be informed by email of the results of the selection.
The films that are not selected will receive a refusal notice.

Close 11. Versions and subtitles

The selected films are projected in original version with French subtitles. The copy of the film with English subtitles can be supplied by the production, at its own charge.
The french subtitles, if they exist, must be provided as well. In case they don’t exist, the Festival will create them later. These French subtitles will be the property of the society that produced them.
If, for technical reasons, the making of a French subtitled copy at the expanse of AYE AYE VO/ FIF NANCY is necessary, it will be placed in the archives. AYE AYE VO/ FIF NANCY expressly commit to limit the use of it only for its own activities, strictly cultural and not commercial.
The translation by « voice over » is not accepted.
The producers and broadcasters of the selected films commit themselves to add the FIF NANCY logo on their DCP and to mention, in their advertising materials (posters, flyers, press file, trailer, website, etc…), the selection of the film at the FIF NANCY, by using the official logo which will be provided by the festival. The logo must not in any case be modified without the Festival’s authorization.

Shipping of selected films & technical requirements screenings
The hard drive containing the DCP file and the digital file (video file HD MP4/H264 encoding AVC H264, 1920x1080) of a selected film must be dispatched to AYE AYE VO, preferably by EMS (TNT, DHL, FedEx...) for reception no later than July the 30th, 2024.

DCP must be delivered to us with no KDM encryption key.
The DCP and the digital file will be checked and compiled on multiple hard drives for screening purposes in the different theatres of the Festival.
These hard drives will integrate the festival archives and will not be used in any case for other screenings, except express agreement of the rights holders.

Close 13. Publication authorization

All the texts, data and photos provided by participants to AYE AYE VO/FIF Nancy will be used for reference in various online and offline publications (including the Festival’s catalogue, website, video library screens). These materials may be translated, corrected or edited prior to their publication. Under the terms of the present regulations, all participants give AYE AYE VO/FIF Nancy free permission to publish and use this material for the above purposes.

Close 14. Guarantees

Participants declare that they hold all of the copyrights, intellectual property rights and all other types of rights, or the authorizations required, for the film to participate in the international competition or in other festival’s selections and for all other rights granted to AYE AYE VO/FIF Nancy under the terms of the present regulations.
Any invited film can be withdrawn of the festival after the confirmation or the definitive selection email notice of participation in FIF NANCY. The production confirms that all the filmed persons’ image rights have been respected.
Consequently, participants guarantee AYE AYE VO/FIF Nancy against any and all, confusion, claims, eviction, suits, and actions that could come from a third party on any reason whatsoever. Participants undertake to guarantee, compensate and hold harmless AYE AYE VO/FIF Nancy against any expenses, in particular expenses and fees related to court proceedings, and direct or indirect damage, as well as any sentences imposed on AYE AYE VO/FIF Nancy or payment resulting from a settlement signed with the plaintiff.
In addition, participants are reminded that in case they don’t possess the rights and authorizations required for the film to participate in the festival, in the competition or in other festival’s selections, and for all other rights granted to AYE AYE VO/FIF Nancy as referred in the present article, may result in the application of criminal and civil penalties as provided by the law.

Close 15. Shipping and insurance

Shipping costs must be paid by the participants, but return expenses will be covered by AYE AYE VO/FIF Nancy.
Insurance costs covering the period between the receipt and the return of the screening supports will be paid by AYE AYE VO/FIF Nancy. In case of loss or damage during this time, the responsibility of AYE AYE VO/FIF Nancy is limited to cover the costs of the HDD replacement. Any complaint regarding the condition of HDD must be made within 30 days after the date of their return shipment.

Close 16. Invitation

Directors whose films have been selected in competition will be invited to NANCY.
Hotel accommodation and a food allowance will be paid by AYE AYE VO/FIF Nancy, as well as 100 € towards travel costs (to replace the projection indemnification), which will be allocated on arrival.

Close 17. Awards

The following prizes will be attributed:

- the Grand of the Press – La Semaine
- Special Awards
Our prestigious “Under the stars” outdoors screenings.
- the Public Grand Prize
All prizes are accompanied with the Festival's trophy.
The beneficiaries commit themselves to mention the complete and exact name of the award followed by “The 30th Nancy International Film Festival” on any advertising or promotional material.

Close 18. Television broadcasting and Internet

Participants give AYE AYE VO/FIF Nancy free permission to reproduce and broadcast clips of the selected films presented in the Festival on terrestrial, digital, cable, satellite and ADSL television channels and on Internet sites. These clips cannot exceed three minutes. They can only be used as part of stories covering the Festival, TV or Web programs and interviews and/or promotional trailers or advertising for the Festival current or future editions.
Permission for using these clips is granted for a one-year period, starting on the date of submission of the film and is renewable by tacit agreement, unless terminated by recorded delivery mail at least two (2) months before its term.

Archiving and viewing of films in AYE AYE VO/FIF Nancy’s head office
AYE AYE VO/FIF Nancy has always conducted a mission of preservation of the film heritage. To this effect, all the video recordings submitted for selection are stored and archived, who may have to transfer them on new current or future (digital or other) formats for improved storage purposes.
Participants give AYE AYE VO/FIF Nancy free permission to implement, as part of its mission of preserving the film heritage, the free, individual consultation of the films archived in its head office for a period of 10 years starting on the date of submission of the in its head office and renewable by tacit agreement unless terminated by recorded delivery mail at least two (2) months before its term.

Close 20. Prolongation of the Festival

Films selected for being presented at the Festival may be made available for free, individual viewing in the Association’s head office.
Participants give AYE AYE VO/FIF Nancy free permission to make a video montage with several of the festival’s selected films extracts (especially prized and award-winning films) and broadcast it on any format for the Festival’s promotional use in France and abroad, for a period of one year starting on the date of submission of the film and renewable by tacit agreement, unless terminated by recorded delivery mail at least two (2) months before its term.

Close 21. Films purchase

AYE AYE VO/FIF Nancy may ask the producer the right to acquire a copy of any film selected at Nancy International Film Festival, especially prize-winning films. AYE AYE VO/FIF Nancy undertakes to use these films exclusively for its own strictly cultural, non-commercial purposes.

Close 22. Non-specified cases and disputes

AYE AYE VO/FIF Nancy or its representative will settle all non-specified cases within the terms of the present regulations and may allow special dispensation regarding justified and specific requests.

Close 23. Miscellaneous

Participating in the Festival implies acceptance without reservation of all the terms outlined in the present regulations. AYE AYE VO/FIF Nancy or its representative reserves the right to cancel any submission or take any suitable measure in the event of a breach of regulations or in response to any behaviour disturbing the course of the Festival.
In case of litigation, only the French courts shall be competent and have jurisdiction.
In case of contradiction with versions in another language, only the French version of the FIF NANCY Regulation 2024 constitutes proof.

Close 24. Cancellation

In case of major problems beyond its control, the AYE AYE VO/FIF Nancy reserves the right to cancel the event. RÈGLEMENT ÉDITION 2024

RÈGLEMENT ÉDITION 2024

Article 1. Définition et objet

Le Festival International du Film de Nancy, a pour objectif de présenter des œuvres de créateurs de qualité et de promouvoir le cinéma auprès des diffuseurs, des médias et du grand public.
D’une façon générale, le Festival s’affirme par ailleurs dans son aspiration à découvrir de nouvelles œuvres et de nouveaux cinéastes et artistes.
Pour ce faire, le festival accueille, entre autres, une sélection officielle de films internationaux-européens documentaires présentés en compétition et hors compétition.
La sélection finale est établie par un comité interne de sélection.

Article 2

Les films inscrits à la Compétition Internationale pourront être sélectionnés pour d'autres sections compétitives ou non compétitives faisant partie de la sélection officielle du Festival.

Article 3

Les films et programmes proposés à la sélection et concourant dans la sélection officielle auront été produits à partir du 1er novembre 2022.

Article 4

Toute personne proposant un film au festival doit mentionner s'il s'agit d'un premier film.

Article 5

Peuvent être inscrits à la sélection les documentaires de plus de 60'.
Tous les supports (film, vidéo) peuvent concourir. Les auteurs peuvent faire concourir plusieurs réalisations, mais une seule œuvre pourra être retenue en sélection officielle.

Pour le visionnage du film, un lien internet protégé d’un mot de passe et valide jusqu’à la fin du mois de juin 2024 doit être fourni, avec possibilité de télécharger le film pour faciliter le processus de visionnement du Comité de sélection. Il est également possible d’envoyer une copie numérique du film, en mentionnant sur la pochette le titre du film et le nom de la personne de contact à l’adresse suivante et dans les délais :

Article 6

Quiconque inscrivant le film garantit les informations indiquées sur la fiche d’inscription.

Article 7

Les dossiers d'inscription et les copies / liens vidéo de visionnage devront être envoyés au bureau du festival au plus tard le 31 mai 2024 (le cachet de la poste faisant foi) ou par voie électronique à l’adresse : programmation@fifnl.com

Article 8. Conditions d’inscription

La participation à la sélection est gratuite.

Les films publicitaires, industriels ou institutionnels ne sont pas admis.

Format de projection : DCP ou fichier numérique (fichier vidéo HD MP4/H264 encodage AVC H264, 1920x1080).

Actuellement, toutes les salles du Festival ne sont pas équipées pour le son 5.1.
Tout film non francophone devra être accompagné d’un fichier de sous-titre (.srt) dans la langue originale et en anglais, ainsi qu’en français, si possible.
Les ayants droit s’engagent à ne pas retirer leur film de la sélection au festival.

Article 9. Documentation pour les films sélectionnés

Pour chaque film sélectionné, le matériel ci-dessous doit être envoyé après réception de l’avis de sélection. FIF NANCY se réserve le droit d’utiliser ce matériel pour la promotion du film et du Festival.

• Au moins 3 photos horizontales du film (images numériques, 10 cm x 15 cm, 300 DPI, JPG)
• Une photo de la/du-des réalisatrice-s/teur-s (images numériques, 10 cm x 15 cm, 300 DPI, JPG)
• Un fichier, un lien protégé téléchargeable ou deux Blu-ray de la version définitive du film en haute qualité avec, pour les films non francophones, des sous-titres en français ou un fichier du film sans sous-titres accompagné d’un fichier de sous-titres (format .srt) en anglais ou/et en langue originale.
• Un fichier ou un lien téléchargeable de la bande-annonce du film (trois minutes max.)
• Un titre international (qui sera utilisé par le Festival pour toute communication interne et externe)
• Affiches, flyers et autre matériel de promotion (sous forme numérique)

Article 10. Sélection

Tout film inscrit et retenu pour la compétition ne pourra être retiré de la sélection.
Le cas échéant, le bureau de l'association se réserve le droit d'un recours en justice pour réclamer tout dédommagement jugé utile et nécessaire.
La liste des films sélectionnés sera disponible sur le site Internet du Festival au plus tard le 15 juillet 2024.
Tous les contacts des films inscrits seront informés par email des résultats de la sélection.
Les films qui ne sont pas sélectionnés reçoivent un avis de refus.

Article 11. Versions et sous-titres

Les films sélectionnés sont projetés en version originale sous-titrée en français. Une copie du film avec sous-titrage en anglais pourra être fournie par la production, et ce à sa charge.

Le sous-titrage en français, s'il existe, doit également être fourni. Dans le cas où il n'existe pas, le Festival se charge de réaliser un sous-titrage en français. Ce sous-titrage en français reste la propriété de la société qui le réalise.

Si, pour des raisons techniques, la réalisation d’une copie sous-titrée en français aux frais de, AYE AYE VO/FIF NANCY devait s’avérer nécessaire, elle intégrera ses archives. AYE AYE VO/FIF NANCY s’engage expressément à en limiter l’usage à ses activités propres, strictement culturelles et non commerciales.

La traduction par "voice over" n'est pas acceptée.

Les producteurs et les distributeurs de tous les films sélectionnés s’engagent à ajouter le logo de FIF NANCY sur leur DCP et à mentionner, dans leur matériel publicitaire (affiche, dossier de presse, bande-annonce, site internet, etc.), la sélection du film au FIF NANCY, en employant le logo officiel qui sera fourni par le Festival. Le logo ne doit en aucun cas être modifié sans l’autorisation du Festival.

Article 12. Envoi des films sélectionnés et spécificités techniques requises pour les projections

Le disque dur contenant le fichier DCP et le fichier numérique (fichier vidéo HD MP4/H264 encodage AVC H264, 1920x1080) devra être expédié à l’association, de préférence par EMS (TNT, DHL, FedEx...), impérativement pour réception le 30 juillet 2024.

Le DCP devra nous parvenir sans clé KDM.
Le DCP et le fichier numérique seront vérifiés puis compilés sur plusieurs disques durs pour projection dans les différentes salles du festival. Ces disques durs intègreront les archives du festival et ne serviront en aucun cas pour d'autres projections, sauf accord exprès des ayants droit.

Article 13. Autorisation de publication des données d’inscription

Les données et photos fournies lors de l’inscription seront utilisées dans diverses publications (catalogues Festival, site Internet, référencement vidéothèque) et seront susceptibles de faire l’objet de traductions, corrections ou modifications préalablement à leur publication. Par les présentes, vous autorisez, à titre gratuit, AYE AYE VO/FIF NANCY à les utiliser dans ce cadre.

Article 14. Garanties

Vous garantissez à AYE AYE VO/FIF NANCY que vous détenez ou que vous avez acquis l’ensemble des droits et autorisations nécessaires à la participation du film à la compétition internationale ou dans les autres sélections du festival ainsi qu’aux utilisations accordées à AYE AYE VO/FIF NANCY en vertu du présent règlement.

Aucun film invité ne peut être retiré du Festival après la confirmation suivant l’avis de sélection définitif par e-mail de sa participation au FIF NANCY. La production confirme que tous les droits à l’image des personnes filmées ont été respectés.

A ce titre, vous garantissez à AYE AYE VO/FIF NANCY contre tout trouble, revendication, éviction quelconque et toute action de tout tiers sur quelque fondement que ce soit. Vous prendrez à votre charge les éventuels dommages et intérêts ainsi que l’ensemble des frais, notamment ceux relatifs à l’instance judiciaire (frais et honoraires, débours, frais d’expertise, etc...) et ceux relatifs à toute mesure d’exécution, que AYE AYE VO/FIF NANCY aurait à payer au terme, soit d’une décision judiciaire assortie de l’exécution provisoire, soit d’une transaction signée avec le demandeur à l’action.

En tant que de besoin, il est rappelé que le défaut de détention de tous les droits et autorisations nécessaires à la participation du film pour la compétition ou dans les autres sélections du festival, ainsi qu’aux utilisations accordées à AYE AYE VO/FIF NANCY tels que visés au présent article, vous soumet aux peines pénales et civiles prévues par la loi.

Article 15. Transport et assurances

Les frais d’envoi des supports de projection sont à la charge des participants.
Les frais de réexpédition sont à la charge de AYE AYE VO/FIF NANCY.

Les frais d’assurance entre la réception et le rendu des supports de projection sont à la charge de AYE AYE VO/FIF NANCY. En cas de perte ou de détérioration pendant cette période, la responsabilité de AYE AYE VO/FIF NANCY n’est engagée que pour la valeur de remplacement du support de projection. Aucune réclamation concernant l'état des supports de projection ne pourra être prise en compte plus de 30 jours après la date de leur renvoi.

Article 16. Invitation

Les réalisateurs des films en compétition seront invités à Nancy. Le Festival prendra en charge leur hébergement, une allocation nourriture et une participation de 100 € aux frais de voyage (en remplacement de l’indemnité de projection) leur seront allouées à leur arrivée.

Article 17. Prix

Il sera notamment décerné :
- le Grand Prix,
- le Grand Prix de la Presse – La Semaine
- mentions spéciales,

Tous les prix sont accompagnés avec le trophée du Festival.
Les ayants droit s’engagent à faire figurer sur tout matériel publicitaire et promotionnel le libellé complet du prix et la mention : « 29e Festival International du Film de Nancy».

Article 18. Diffusion télévision et Internet
Vous autorisez AYE AYE VO/FIF NANCY, à titre gratuit, à reproduire et diffuser sur des chaînes de télévision hertziennes, numériques, câble, satellite et ADSL, ainsi que sur des sites Internet, des extraits des films sélectionnés dans le cadre du Festival. Ces extraits ne pourront pas excéder 3 minutes. Ils ne seront utilisés que dans le cadre de reportages consacrés au Festival, d’émissions télévisées ou Web, d’interviews télévisées ou Web et/ou d’annonces promotionnelles ou publicitaires pour le Festival actuel ou futur et ce, pour une durée d’un an, à compter de l’inscription du film, renouvelable par tacite reconduction sauf dénonciation adressée par lettre recommandée avec accusé de réception sous réserve d’un préavis de deux (2) mois avant l’échéance.

Article 19. Archivage et consultation au Centre de Documentation de AYE AYE VO/FIF NANCY.
AYE AYE VO/FIF NANCY mène une mission de sauvegarde du patrimoine des films. A cet effet, elle conserve et archive toutes les œuvres soumises à la sélection. Elle pourra être amenée, pour une meilleure conservation des archives, à les transférer sur de nouveaux supports actuels ou futurs (numériques ou autres).
Vous autorisez AYE AYE VO/FIF NANCY, à titre gratuit, à réaliser, dans le cadre de sa mission de sauvegarde du patrimoine, la consultation libre, gratuite et individuelle des films archivés dans son bureau et ce, pour une durée de 10 ans, à compter de l’inscription du film, renouvelable par tacite reconduction sauf dénonciation adressée par lettre recommandée avec accusé de réception sous réserve d’un préavis de deux (2) mois avant l’échéance.

Article 20. Prolongement du Festival
Les films sélectionnés dans le cadre du Festival pourront éventuellement faire l’objet de consultation libre, gratuite et individuelle dans les bureaux de l’association.
Vous autorisez AYE AYE VO/FIF NANCY, à titre gratuit, à réaliser un montage audiovisuel d’extraits de plusieurs des films sélectionnés dans le cadre du Festival (en particulier les films primés) et de les diffuser sur tous supports aux fins de promotion du Festival en France et à l’étranger et ce, pour une durée d’un an, à compter de l’inscription du film, renouvelable par tacite reconduction sauf dénonciation adressée par lettre recommandée avec accusé de réception sous réserve d’un préavis de deux (2) mois avant l’échéance.

Article 21. Acquisition des copies
AYE AYE VO/FIF NANCY pourra solliciter de la part du producteur le droit d’acquérir une copie de tout film sélectionné au Festival International du Film de Nancy, et en particulier, des films primés. AYE AYE VO/FIF Nancy s’engage expressément à en limiter l’usage à ses activités propres, strictement culturelles et non commerciales.

Article 22. Cas non prévus et contestations
Le bureau de AYE AYE VO/FIF NANCY ou son représentant est chargé de régler les cas non prévus au règlement et d’accorder les dérogations éventuelles aux dispositions ci-dessus sur demande expresse et motivée.

Article 23. Divers
La participation au Festival implique l’acceptation sans réserve des termes du présent règlement. Le bureau de AYE AYE VO/FIF NANCY ou son représentant se réserve le droit d’annuler l’inscription et de prendre toutes autres mesures adéquates en cas de non-respect des termes du règlement ou d’attitude contraire au bon déroulement de la manifestation.
Pour tout litige, seuls seront compétents les tribunaux français.
En cas de contradiction avec des versions dans une autre langue, seule la version française du Règlement FIF NANCY 2023 fait foi.

Article 24. Annulation
En cas de problème majeur indépendant de sa volonté, l’association AYE AYE VO/FIF NANCY se réserve le droit d’annuler la manifestation.
