TERMS & RULES

ARTICLE 1. Dates and Places

The fifth edition of the Festival Court Derrière will take place in Saint-Denis de La Réunion from 27th September until the 3rd October 2023.
The festival is organized by Klaxon and Cinemawon associations, working in the curation of screenings events and workshops in film analysis.

ARTICLE 2. Eligibility conditions

Registration is free and concerns films completed after 1st January 2022.

The festival accepts fiction, animated films, experimental films and documentaries made by filmmakers from the African continent but also from the African diasporas and Afro-descendants around the world, but also from First Nation people of the Americas and the Pacific.
These films must be subtitled in French if their original language is not French, for the festival screenings.

The duration of the film should not exceed 30 minutes.

ARTICLE 3. Film registrations

The registration deadline is June 15th, 2023.

The form must imperatively be accompanied by a viewing link (Vimeo, Youtube, Dropox, etc.) with password, if applicable.
The link provided must remain valid until the publication of the official selection.
The Court Derrière festival expressly undertakes to keep the confidentiality of the links and passwords communicated to it, and to use them only as part of the selection process.

We accept work-in-progress entries in the selection process before the official deadline as long as it is specified what stage the making of the film has reached and you precisely tell us about the film's completion schedule. In that specific case, we will not accept films completed after August 15th, 2023.

ARTICLE 4. Selection Process

Each film received is watched by at least two people. Short-listed films are seen and discussed by the selection committee.

The selected filmmakers/producers will be informed of the decisions of the selection committee, by email, prior to the announcement of the official selection, set for September 1st, 2023

Please note that as part of its official screenings (indoors or online if applicable), the festival does not pay screening rights for films that are part of the official competition.

ARTICLE 5. Support and projection formats

The selected films must be made available to the festival no later than September 8th, 2023.

The films must be sent as a video file by download link WeTransfer, Smash or MyAirBridge to our email address courtderrierefestival@gmail.com

For physical media: on a USB key or hard disk deposited at the reception of the Image Pole of Château Morange in Saint-Denis de La Réunion.

For optimal screening conditions we accept files with the following characteristics:
HD or 4K definition.
Format: .mov or .mp4
Codec H264 (good quality) or ProRes.

ARTICLE 6. Distribution of films

Any director or producer who has submitted a film is responsible for providing a copy of the film for the festival if selected. No withdrawal of film after announcement of its selection will be accepted.

Any film submitted to the festival may be subject to ad hoc programming within the framework of Klaxon or Cinemawon activities. If that happens, the concerned filmmakers of producers will be contacted in order to agree on the terms of these screenings.

ARTICLE 7. Jury & Prize

The juries will be made up of film professionals, students and the public.

Three prizes will be awarded:
- The Eli Prize awarded by the professional Jury
- The Makandal Prize awarded by the Student Jury
- The Heva Prize awarded by the Public

ARTICLE 7bis. Awarded films screenings

The rights holders of the films awarded at the 4th Court Derrière Film Festival, give permission to the Festival to have the screening rights for their film between the end of the festival and 31st December 2023 as part of the replay of the Awards in partnering theaters of the festival in La Réunion.

These screenings may not exceed one screening per venue and rights holders will be informed of each screening of this program.

ARTICLE 8. Communication & Press

If selected, the festival reserves the right to present an extract from the film to local, national or international television, not exceeding 10% of the total duration of the work.
The Festival reserves the right to use short extracts and / or images of the film in printed communication tools or through any other medium, only for the purpose of promoting the festival.

ARTICLE 9. Copyright

- The rights holders of the films declare that they hold the rights to use all the visual and sound elements used in the production of the film that they register for the festival.

- The screening fee is 100 Euros for each selected film. We can make electronic payments by Paypal or Western Union preferably and in some exceptions through bank account transfer. All payments will be made upon reception of an invoice made to Klaxon.

- The festival team can decide at any time on an exception to the regulations. In this case, they will immediately inform the concerned candidate (s) by email.

- The request to register for the 5th edition of the Court Derrière festival implies full acceptance of the above-mentioned regulations.

ARTICLE 10. Online screenings

If the situation requires it, if the festival had to be canceled or could not be ensured in optimal conditions of reception of the public (administrative ban or any other reasons beyond our control), the organizers reserve the right to maintain its edition, partially or totally online.

ARTICLE 11. Derogations & Disputes

The organizing committee alone is empowered to settle points not provided for in the regulations and to grant exemptions. Participation in the festival implies unreserved acceptance of the terms of these regulations.
Any dispute relating to its application and interpretation will be submitted to the competent courts of Saint-Denis de La Réunion, the applicable law being French law.

ARTICLE 12. Cancellation

The organizing committee reserves the right to cancel the festival in the event of a major problem beyond its control.

RÈGLEMENT

ARTICLE 1. Dates et Lieux

La cinquième édition du Festival Court Derrière se déroulera à Saint-Denis de La Réunion du 27 septembre au 3 octobre 2023. Le festival est organisé par les associations Klaxon et Cinemawon qui œuvrent à la diffusion de films et à l’éducation à l’image.

ARTICLE 2. Conditions d’éligibilité

L’inscription est gratuite et concerne les films terminés après le 1er janvier 2022.

Le festival accepte les films de fiction, d’animation, les films expérimentaux et les documentaires réalisés par des cinéastes issus du continent africain mais aussi des diasporas africaines, les afro-descendants dans le monde, ainsi que les peuples autochtones des Amériques et du Pacifique. Ces films devront être sous-titrés en français s’ils ne sont pas en langue française pour la diffusion pendant le festival.

La durée du film ne doit pas excéder 30 minutes.

ARTICLE 3. Inscriptions des films

La date limite des inscriptions est fixée au 15 juin 2023.

Le formulaire devra être impérativement accompagné d’un lien de visionnage (Viméo, Youtube, Dropox, …) avec mot de passe, le cas échéant.
Le lien fourni doit rester valide jusqu’à la publication de la sélection officielle.
Le festival Court Derrière s’engage expressément à conserver la confidentialité des liens et mots de passe qui lui sont communiqués, et à les utiliser uniquement dans le cadre du processus de sélection.
Nous acceptons les versions de travail envoyées avant la fin de l’appel à films le 30 juin à condition de nous préciser l’étape à laquelle le film se trouve et de nous renseigner précisément sur le calendrier de finition du film. Dans ce cas précis, nous n’accepterons pas les films terminés après le 15 août 2023.

ARTICLE 4. Sélection

Chaque film reçu est regardé a minima par deux personnes. Les films short-listés sont vus et débattus par le comité de programmation.

Les ayants-droits seront informés des décisions du comité de sélection, par mail, en amont de l’annonce de la sélection officielle, fixée au 1er septembre 2023. Les modalités des projections seront détaillées au moment de ces notifications.

Il est à noter que dans le cadre de ses projections officielles (sur écran ou en ligne le cas échéant), le festival ne verse pas de droits de projection pour les films faisant partie de la compétition officielle.

ARTICLE 5. Supports et formats de projection

Les films sélectionnés devront être mis à la disposition du festival au plus tard le 8 septembre 2023.

Les films devront être envoyés en version dématérialisée par lien de téléchargement WeTransfer, Smash ou MyAirBridge à notre adresse email courtderrierefestival@gmail.com

Pour les supports physiques : sur clé USB ou disque dur déposé à l’accueil du Pôle image de Château Morange à Saint-Denis de La Réunion.
Pour des conditions optimales de projection nous acceptons les fichiers aux caractéristiques suivantes :
Définition HD ou 4K
Format : .mov ou .mpeg4
Codec H264 (de bonne qualité) ou ProRes.

ARTICLE 6. Diffusion des films

Tout réalisateur ou producteur ayant inscrit un film est responsable de la mise à disposition d’une copie du film pour le festival en cas de sélection. Aucun retrait de film après l'annonce de sa sélection ne sera accepté.

Tout film inscrit au festival pourra faire l’objet par la suite de programmations ponctuelles dans le cadre des activités de Klaxon ou Cinemawon. Le cas échéant, les ayants droits seront contactés afin de fixer les modalités de ces projections.

ARTICLE 7. Jury & Prix

Les jurys seront composés de professionnels du cinéma, d’étudiants et du public.

Trois prix seront décernés :
- Le Prix Eli décerné par le Jury professionnel
- Le Prix Makandal décerné par le Jury Etudiant
- Le Prix Heva décerné par le Public

ARTICLE 7bis. Diffusion du Palmarès

Les ayants droit des films récompensés lors du 5e Festival Court Derrière, autorisent le Festival Court Derrière à disposer des droits de diffusion de leur film entre la fin du festival et le 31 décembre 2023 dans le cadre de rediffusion du Palmarès dans des salles partenaires du festival à La Réunion.

Ces diffusions ne pourront excéder une séance par salle. Les ayants droit seront informés de chaque diffusion de ce programme.

ARTICLE 8. Communication & Presse

En cas de sélection, le festival se réserve le droit de présenter un extrait du film aux télévisions locales, nationales ou internationales, n’excédant pas 10% de la durée totale de l’œuvre.
Le Festival se réserve le droit d’utiliser de courts extraits et/ou des images du film dans les outils de communication imprimés ou tout autre support de diffusion, uniquement dans le cadre de la promotion du festival.

ARTICLE 9. Droits d’auteur

- Les ayants-droits des films déclarent détenir les droits d’utilisation de tous les éléments visuels et sonores rentrant dans la fabrication du film qu’ils inscrivent au festival.

- La somme forfaitaire de 100 euros sera versée pour chaque film sélectionné à l’ayant droit identifié lors de l’inscription du film. Le paiement se fera contre facture à l’ordre de l’association Klaxon par virement bancaire (quand c’est possible), PayPal ou par Western Union uniquement.

- L’équipe du festival peut décider à tout moment d’une exception au règlement. Dans ce cas, elle en informera aussitôt par mail le ou les candidats concernés

- La demande d’inscription à la 4e édition du festival « Court Derrière » suppose l’entière acceptation du règlement mentionné ci-dessus.

ARTICLE 10. Diffusion en Ligne

En cas de force majeure, si le festival devait être annulé ou ne pouvait pas être assuré dans des conditions optimales d’accueil du public (interdiction administrative ou toutes autres raisons indépendantes de notre volonté), les organisateurs se réservent le droit de maintenir son édition en ligne partiellement ou totalement.

ARTICLE 11. Dérogations & Litiges

Le comité d’organisation est seul habilité à régler les points non prévus au règlement et à accorder des dérogations. La participation au festival implique l’acceptation sans réserve des termes du présent règlement.
Toute contestation relative à son application et interprétation sera soumise aux tribunaux compétents de Saint-Denis de La Réunion, la loi applicable étant la loi française.

ARTICLE 12. Annulation

Le comité d’organisation se réserve le droit d’annuler le festival, en cas de problème majeur indépendant de sa volonté.
