Femme Filth Fest (FFF) was created in 2024 to showcase gross, taboo, provocative, transgressive, experimental, or otherwise egregious films created by women and transgender/nonbinary filmmakers. We believe the future of film is filthy, so let your freak flag fly!

Femme Filth Fest is driven by a commitment to showcasing stories that push boundaries, create conversation, and embrace artistic risks. By creating a space for films often overlooked by traditional festivals, FFF provides a vital platform for women and gender-expansive filmmakers who want to explore the uncomfortable, the subversive, and the provocative.

A Femme Filth film can be of any genre or topic. Whether it's puke, blood, guts, sex, crime, violence, or anything in between; if you think your film is filthy, it probably is.

FFF strives to create an enriching, supportive community of filmmakers and their teams. Thus, filmmakers of diverse backgrounds (QTBIPOC, filmmakers with disabilities, etc.) are heavily encouraged to submit.

GENERAL RULES AND TERMS:

Please read all of these terms carefully before submitting.
1. Submission deadline dates: Open on July 2nd, 2025. All films must be received by November 30th, 2025 to be eligible to screen at Femme Filth Fest.
2. All films MUST be directed by a woman or transgender/nonbinary person. Priority will be given to films with multiple female/trans/nonbinary crew members in primary roles.
3. There is NO refunding of submission fees once a film has been submitted to FFF. Submission funds are forfeited at the time of submission.
4. There is no completion eligibility date to screen at FFF. Films created at any time, in any year, are eligible.
5. There is no premiere status requirement to submit to FFF. Even if your film is publicly available online, it is eligible to screen at FFF.
6. All short films must be under 30 minutes in length. All feature films must be 60 minutes or longer in length.
7. Selected films can be within any genre. We use the term "filth" expansively. If you think it's filthy, it probably is.
8. Priority selection will be given to filmmakers who are able to attend our live event in Los Angeles, CA. However, filmmakers from anywhere around the world are eligible to submit.
9. If your film is not in English, your film MUST have English subtitles prior to submission.
10. If your film uses generative AI (Gen-AI) for ANY reason, including animation, script writing, ideation, editing, color-grading, or producing footage, it must be disclosed in your cover letter. Films suspected of using generative AI that do not disclose AI usage will be investigated by our programming team, and run the risk of being disqualified.
11. For any other questions/issues, email Festival Organizer Abby Wright at info@femmefilthfest.com.

Completely gutted to have missed attending, but so honoured that Brave Rebel Army was a selection of this year's fest. Especially appreciated all the filthy love our film received on Letterboxd & Instagram post screening. Congrats to Abby on creating such a brilliant community - the energy is palpable.

  • Attending Femme Filth Fest from Chicago to screen my short film "Don't Come Home Before Midnight" was one of the most inspiring and affirming experiences I have ever had in my career. Thank you Abby, Brittany, and the programming team. And if I believed in God, I would thank them right now too.
