The Female Eye Film Festival (FeFF) was established in 2001 as a competitive international women directors film festival and just celebrated its 23rd edition. FeFF is excited to launch the inaugural Female Eye Documentary Film Festival (FEDFF). Given the rise of female documentarians world wide it is important to offer real-world perspectives on global issues and give voice to marginalized communities which can act as a catalyst for social and political change, especially during turbulent times.

This inaugural three day event Dec. 2026 will be dedicated to short and feature documentaries to include hybrid genres, expository, observational, participatory, performative, poetic, reflexive, and mockumentary style films.

FeFF award are hand welded one-of-a-kind statues by metal artist, Dawson Calvert.
Two (2) awards will be presented in 2026 for Best Feature Documentary and Best Short Documentary. As the documentary arm of FeFF grows we will introduce more awards to include Best Foreign Feature Documentary, Best Canadian Feature Documentary, Best Foreign Short Documentary and Best North American Short Documentary.

Films must be directed by a female. Priority will be given to films that have not screened in Toronto. Films must be completed within two years of the festival.
