Bases para cortometrajes
1. La fecha de producción y terminación del cortometraje NO debe ser anterior a ENERO del año 2025. Si la fecha es anterior el cortometraje se descalificará. La fecha de producción se tiene en cuenta de acuerdo al ítem “completion date” de la plataforma.
2. Solo se admitirán cortometrajes (ficción o documental) del género de Terror (con todos sus subgéneros, por ejemplo: Giallo, Slasher, Home Invasion, Splatter, Gótico, etc.), Thriller, Acción, Western, Noir, Fantasía y Ciencia Ficción.
3. La obra audiovisual NO debe haberse presentado a las versiones anteriores del festival Fantasmagoría (2018 - 2025).
4. La duración de los cortometrajes deberá ser MÁXIMO de 20 minutos (sin incluir créditos).
5. Se debe subir los archivos a la plataforma en formato MP4, AVI o MKV o adjuntar el link a la reproducción del video (con contraseña incluida si lo requiere).
6. Se debe subir los cortometrajes con SUBTÍTULOS en ESPAÑOL si este idioma no es el hablado en la pieza audiovisual (se aceptan cortometrajes hablados en lenguas distintas al español).
EXCEPCIÓN PARA FASE PRELIMINAR: Cortometrajes hablados en inglés sin subtítulos u obras habladas en otro idioma con subtítulos en inglés son aceptados, pero si son elegidos como candidatos para la selección oficial DEBEN enviar la obra con subtítulos en ESPAÑOL)
7. Los cortometrajes deberán ser sometidos a través de la plataforma FilmFreeway.
8. La determinación de los jurados será definitiva.
9. Los participantes que entren a la Competencia de Fantasmagoría VIiI certifican que su cortometraje es una obra original y que son dueños legales de la obra audiovisual sometida.
10. Los participantes retienen los derechos de autor de sus cortometrajes, pero ceden una licencia no exclusiva a Fantasmagoría y sus representantes, que le permitirán al festival el uso de los cortometrajes en perpetuidad sin ninguna compensación para el uso de sus imágenes en promos, mashups, resúmenes y publicidad del festival (página web, YouTube, y redes sociales).
11. Se brindan los derechos de exhibición del cortometraje escogido de manera ilimitada y no exclusiva a Fantasmagoría.
12. Fecha límite de entrega: 30 de juNio de 2026 (el festival se reserva el derecho a cambios imprevistos con esta fecha).
13. El festival Fantasmagoría se reserva la posibilidad de organizar nuevas categorías no comprendidas en estas bases.
14. El festival Fantasmagoría se reserva el derecho de seleccionar las obras participantes, determinar en qué categoría irá cada una y establecer el orden y la fecha de exhibición.
15. La participación en la competición implica la aceptación del presente Reglamento. Cualquier asunto que surja a lo largo del festival, no contemplada en el presente Reglamento, será decidido por la organización del certamen.
16. Fantasmagoría NO paga derechos de exhibición para las obras en competencia.
17. Si los realizadores de un cortometraje elegido no envían los subtítulos en español requeridos con el tiempo suficiente previo, el festival se reserva el derecho de descalificarlo.
18. Las categorías por las que competirán los cortometrajes seleccionados son:
- Premio “Jose Mojica Marins” al mejor Cortometraje de ficción
- Premio del Público “Narciso Ibañez Menta” al mejor cortometraje de Ficción.
- Premio “Jairo Pinilla” al mejor cortometraje latinoamericano.
- Premio “Gritos Animados” al mejor cortometraje animado de género.
- Premio "Madremonte" al mejor cortometraje Colombiano.
- Premio “Fantasmagoritos” a mejor cortometraje infantil de animación y acción real.
19. Para inscribirse y participar en la convocatoria el costo es de $2.50 (dos dólares y medio) por cortometraje. En el mes de mayo de 2026 se aumentará el valor a $3.00 por cortometraje.
Bases para largometrajes
1. La fecha de producción del largometraje NO debe ser anterior a ENERO del año 2025. Si la fecha es anterior el largometraje se descalificará. Le fecha de producción se tiene en cuenta de acuerdo al ítem “completion date” de la plataforma.
2. Solo se admitirán largometrajes (ficción o documental) del género de Terror (con todos sus subgéneros, por ejemplo, Giallo, Slasher, Home Invasion, Splatter, Gótico, etc.), Thriller, Acción, Western, Noir, Fantasía y Ciencia ficción.
3. El envío de screeners solamente se realizará a través de la plataforma FilmFreeway.
4. La duración del largometraje deberá ser de 60 a 110 minutos sin créditos incluidos.
5. Se debe enviar las películas con subtítulos en ESPAÑOL si este idioma no es el hablado en la pieza audiovisual (se aceptan películas habladas en lenguas distintas al español).
EXCEPCIÓN FASE PRELIMINAR: Películas habladas en inglés sin subtítulos u obras habladas en otro idioma al español con subtítulos en inglés son aceptadas, pero si son elegidos como candidatos para la selección oficial DEBEN enviar la obra con subtítulos en ESPAÑOL). En caso de que una obra sea seleccionada y no se envíen los subtítulos con antelación a las fechas del festival, se reserva el derecho de descalificarla.
6. La proyección de las obras seleccionadas se realizará preferiblemente en formato digital. También se acepta la recepción de las obras en Blu-Ray, DCP Digital o en otros formatos digitales. Si es formato DCP deberá ser enviado con subtítulos en español incluidos (si los requiere) en caso de que se requiera KDM.
7. La determinación de los jurados será definitiva.
8. Los participantes que entren a la Competencia certifican que su largometraje es una obra original y que son los dueños legales de la película sometida.
9. Los participantes retienen los derechos de autor de sus largometrajes, pero ceden una licencia no exclusiva a Fantasmagoría y sus representantes, que le permitirán al festival el uso de los largometrajes en perpetuidad sin ninguna compensación para el uso de sus imágenes en promos, mashups, resúmenes y publicidad de la muestra.
10. Los participantes cuyas obras sean seleccionadas para la competencia central ceden los derechos de exhibición para la proyección ÚNICAMENTE durante el festival.
11. Las obras ganadoras de algún premio podrían ser proyectadas por la organización en exhibiciones posteriores al festival principal. La organización notificará vía email a los productores y/o directores de los largometrajes.
12. Fecha límite de entrega de los largometrajes: 31 de julio de 2026 (el festival se reserva el derecho a cambios imprevistos con esta fecha).
13. El Festival Fantasmagoría se reserva la posibilidad de organizar nuevas categorías no comprendidas en estas bases.
14. El Festival se reserva el derecho de acordar la fecha y orden de exhibición de las películas.
15. El Festival contactará directamente a todos los autores de las obras seleccionadas para notificarles las condiciones de participación.
16. La participación en el festival implica la aceptación del presente Reglamento. Cualquier cuestión que surja a lo largo de la muestra, no contemplada en el presente Reglamento, será decidida por la organización del certamen.
17. Fantasmagoría NO paga derechos de exhibición para las películas en competencia que entren a la convocatoria.
18. Los largometrajes seleccionados a través de la convocatoria competirán con otros que serán invitados directamente y que en conjunto formarán las selecciones oficiales de Ficción y de Documental. Las categorías y premios por los que competirán los largometrajes seleccionados son:
Categoría: Selección oficial de Largometrajes de Ficción:
- Premio “Carlos Enrique Taboada” a mejor Largometraje de Ficción.
- Premio “Tres Moiras” a la mejor Actriz en Largometraje de Ficción.
- Premio “Tres Moiras” al mejor actor en Largometraje de Ficción.
- Premio “Julio Jiménez” al mejor Guion.
- Premio “Jaime Osorio” al mejor largometraje latinoamericano
- Premio “Narciso Ibañez Serrador” al mejor director
- Premio del Público “Narciso Ibañez Menta” al mejor Largometraje de ficción.
Categoría: Selección Largometrajes documentales de género:
- Premio “Gótico Tropical” al Mejor Largometraje documental de género.
19. Algunos largometrajes podrían entrar, según el criterio del equipo de curaduría, a muestras o secciones especiales del festival por fuera de competencia enfocadas en animación, obras asiáticas, muestra de acción, películas colombianas, películas de animación o películas Weird y experimentales.
20. Para inscribirse y participar en la competencia el costo es de $4.00 (cuatro dólares) por largometraje. En junio de 2026 el valor subirá a $5.00
21. La obra audiovisual NO debe haberse presentado a las versiones anteriores del festival Fantasmagoría (2018 - 2025).

Rules & terms
Short films:
1. Entries must have a realization date not earlier than January 2025. If the short film is from a previous date, it will be eliminated. The production date its based on the “Completion Date” item on the platform.
2. Only Horror with all sub-genres (for instance: Giallo, Slasher, Home Invasion, Splatter, Gothic, etc.), Thriller, Action, Western, Noir, or Science Fiction genres are allowed.
3. Entries cannot be already submitted to the previous version of Fantasmagoria (2018 - 2025).
4. Entries must run for 20 minutes or less (without credit titles).
5. Participants should upload the files to the platform with the following preferred formats: mp4, AVI, or MKV. Also, attaching a video link (with the password included when required) is possible.
6. All entries must have SPANISH subtitles if the short film does not use a Spanish-spoken language (it is accepted that short films with spoken languages are different from Spanish).
Exception for preliminary phase: short films spoken in a different language than Spanish or expressed in another language with English subtitles are accepted. However, if the short film is chosen for official selection, the producers MUST send the file with Spanish subtitles. If a selected short film doesn't have Spanish subtitles, the festival will disqualify it.
7. Online entries may be submitted via FilmFreeway.
8. The determination of the judges shall be final.
9. By entering the Competition of Fantasmagoría VIII, the participant certifies that their short is an original work and that they are the legal owner of the submitted short film.
10. Participants retain the ownership rights to their short films but grant a non-exclusive license to Fantasmagoria and their representatives. These would permit the use of the short films in perpetuity without any compensation for using images in promos, mashups, trailers, and publicity of the festival (website, YouTube, and social networks).
11. Exhibition rights are assigned to Fantasmagoría in an unlimited and non-exclusive manner.
12. Late deadline: June 30, 2026 (The festival reserves the possibility to date changes).
13. Fantasmagoria reserves the possibility to create new categories outside the terms.
14. Fantasmagoría will choose the category, order, and screening date for each short film selected.
15. Participation in the competition implies acceptance of the rules. The festival organization will address any issues related to the festival which are not included in the terms and conditions.
16. Fantasmagoría does not pay exhibition rights for short films in competition.
17. If the filmmakers don’t send the Spanish subtitles requested, the festival reserves its right to unqualify the short film.
18. The selected short films will compete in these categories:
- "Jose Mojica Marins" award for the best short film.
- “Narciso Ibañez Menta” Audience Award to best short film.
- “Jairo Pinilla” award to best latinamerican short film.
- "Gritos Animados" award for the best animated short film.
- "Madremonte" award for best colomnbian shortfilm.
- “Fantasmagoritos” award for best kids short films (animation and real action).
19. To participate in the competition, the cost of each entry is $ 2.50... in may of 2026, the cost will up to $ 3.00
Long feature films:
1. Entries must have a realization date not earlier than January 2025. If the feature film is from a previous date, it will be eliminated. The production date its based on the “Completion Date” item on the platform.
2. Only Horror with all sub-genres (for instance: Giallo, Slasher, Home Invasion, Splatter, Gothic, etc.), Thriller, Action, Western, Noir, or Science Fiction genres are allowed.
3. Participants will send screeners through the following site: FilmFreeway .
4. Feature length should be between 60 and 110 minutes without credit titles.
5. All entries must have SPANISH subtitles if the film does not use a Spanish-spoken language (it is accepted that films with spoken languages are different from Spanish).
Exception for preliminary phase: films spoken in a different language than Spanish or expressed in another language with English subtitles are accepted. However, if the film is chosen for official selection, the producers MUST send the file with Spanish subtitles. If a selected film doesn't have Spanish subtitles, the festival will disqualify it.
6. Screening of the selected features should be made, preferably in digital format. The festival also accepts Blue-Ray, Digital DCP format, or any digital format for the screenings. If the format is DCP, and the spoken lenguage it´s not Spanish... must have Spanish subtittles, specially if requires KDM.
7. The determination of the judges shall be final.
8. By entering the Competition of Fantasmagoría VIII, the participant certifies that their film is an original work and that they are the legal owner of the submitted film.
9. Participants retain the ownership rights to their films but grant a non-exclusive license to Fantasmagoría and their representatives. These would permit the use of the films in perpetuity without any compensation for using images in promos, mashups, trailers, and publicity of the festival (website, YouTube, and social networks).
10. Participants who selected films for the major competition give the exhibition rights only for screening within the festival.
11. The organization could screen awarded films in later exhibitions to the main Fantasmagoría event. The organization will email the producers and directors of the feature films.
12. Late deadline: July 31, 2026 (The festival reserves the possibility to date changes).
13. Fantasmagoría reserves the possibility to create new categories outside the terms.
14. Fantasmagoría reserves the right to choose the screening date and order of the selected films.
15. Fantasmagoría will contact each of the authors of the selected films to notify them of participation conditions.
16. Participation in the competition implies acceptance of the rules. The festival organization will address any issues related to the exhibition which are not included in the terms and conditions.
17. Fantasmagoría does not pay exhibition rights for films in competitions that participate in the contest. The selected films will conform to the official selection of Feature and Genre Documentary Films, with other movies invited directly.
18. The selected films will compete for these categories and awards:
Category: Feature Film Official selection:
- "Carlos Enrique Taboada" award for the best feature film.
- “Tres Moiras” award to the best actress.
- “Tres Moiras” award to best actor.
- “Julio Jiménez” award for best screenplay.
- “Narciso Ibañez Menta” audience award for the best feature film.
- “Jaime Osorio” award for best latinamerican film.
- “Narciso Ibañez Serrador” award for best director.
Category: Genre Documentary selection:
- "Gótico Tropical" award for best genre documentary film.
19. Some feature films could be classified according to the curator team criteria in special festival sections focused on animation, Asian movies, Action exhibition, Colombian films, or weird and experimental.
20. The cost for entry to participate is $4.00. In june of 2026 the cost will up to $5.00
21. Entries cannot be already submitted to the previous version of Fantasmagoria (2018 - 2025).
