1. Theme & Eligibility :
- Submissions must focus on human rights topics. This can include, but is not limited to, social justice, equality, cultural rights, freedom of expression, and environmental issues impacting communities.
- All genres: fiction, non-fiction, animation, or experimental are welcome.
- The festival is open to filmmakers worldwide.
2. Duration & Format :
- short films and documentaries are eligible, with a maximum runtime of 60 minutes (including credits) and minimum runtime of 5 minutes (including credits).
- Films must include English subtitles if the dialogue is in a language other than English.
3. Submission Window & Notification :
- Deadline is June 19th.
- Selected filmmakers will be notified by July 10.
4. Online Availability :
- Films already available for free online (e.g., YouTube, Vimeo) are not eligible.
- Films available on paid streaming platforms, or limited digital release, remain eligible.
5. Rights & Permissions :
- The submitting filmmaker must own or have obtained all necessary rights and permissions for any aspect of the film (music, footage, etc.).
- By submitting, you grant Fankeenna Film Fest the right to screen your work publicly and to use clips/stills for promotional purposes.
6. Q&A Sessions :
Selected filmmakers may be invited for a short virtual Q&A during the festival. We encourage active engagement to share insights and spark dialogue with our audience.
7. Additional Guidelines :
- Films containing hate speech or illegal content will be disqualified.
- The festival reserves the right to determine the eligibility of any project and may request additional information for clarification.
8. HOW TO SUBMIT :
- Entries must be submitted via our designated online submission platform (FilmFreeway) before June 19.
- Please include a short synopsis, director’s bio, and any relevant promotional materials with your submission.
