Over the last 27 years, Fairy Tales Queer Art Film Festival has grown from a fledgling, volunteer-run off-shoot of The Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers, to become one of Canada’s largest 2SLGBTQIA+ film and art festivals. As of 2024, the festival was expanded to include other art forms that connect to the countries and cultures connect to each film.

Leave it to queers to have one of the oldest, yet most refreshing film festivals in the city. It was such an honour to open for Ninxs. The curation, organization and communication were phenomenal. We are grateful for the opportunities to participate in media coverage, intersectional community events, and be given a platform.

What a charming experience. I can't speak highly enough of how thoughtful, enthusiastic, and energetic this festival team is. They go above and beyond and have curated a really positive and interested community. The theatre is in a beautiful art gallery and was a great screening experience. I would happily submit again to this one.

Thank you, Fairy Tales Queer Art & Film Festival, for hosting our international premiere of 'The Last Goodbye' among other fantastic works. The programmers made it easy to share our marketing and film details. You should definitely submit to this festival!

  • A great programme that champions filmmakers from all over with their queer narratives. One of the great LGBTQIA+ festivals out there! We had two of our clients screen in 2025:

    🏳️‍🌈 Lovin' Her
    🏳️‍🌈 Theo's Friend
