We’re thrilled to announce that applications for FUSE Film (part of FUSE International) 2023 celebrating the work of young filmmakers are now open!

It has been a difficult few years for so many and we can’t wait to experience the energy, inspiration and hope which young people and our festival audiences bring to Kingston once again. Last year we had a wide range of wonderful applications, so after our success in 2021 and 2022 we are thrilled to be back welcoming young people and all their creative visions once again. Sharing the creative talents of young filmmakers is more important than ever before and at the heart of our festival.

Across the globe there are many film festivals throughout the year, but few who have a true focus on young emerging filmmakers. FUSE Film is here to provide an affordable platform for young filmmakers to get one of their first experiences of a film festival. There is the opportunity to showcase your films to an audience in a stunning venue in Kingston and have your films watched by an industry panel and enter our awards.

There are 4 different categories available for you to apply for:

- Best Miniature Film (5 minutes or under)

- Best Short Film (Between 10-15 minutes)

- Best International Short Film (Under 15 minutes and not based in the UK)

- Best Local Film (Under 15 minutes and based in Kingston or surrounding areas)

All applicants will have a response to their application by the end of May 2023.

A selection of finalists will be chosen from each category by an industry panel. The finalists will be put forwards for our Film Awards. Each finalist’s film will be screened live and online from our website where you get the opportunity to see your film on the big screen. Then in the evening, the red carpet is rolled out for the award ceremony, where the announcements of the winner of each category will be revealed by some special guests.

The terms and conditions for applicants of FUSE Film 2023 apply to all award categories and are as follows:

- At least 1 of the applicants must be Under 25

- At least 1 applicant still needs to be in education of some sort (School, College, University, etc)

- All films must pay a registration Fee of £5 per film application

Application deadline: Friday 31st March 2023.

There is a £5.00 registration fee per application which contributes to the administrative costs of managing and running the event, inclusion in the brochure and promotion of the Film Festival as a whole.

Our screening event is currently planned to take place on the 3rd July 2022, however this is subject to change.

Please contact Daniel, General Manager, if you have any questions at generalmanager@creativeyouthcharity.org If you have any access requirements, please get in touch to discuss an alternative application process.

This is a new venture, and we will also be looking for opportunities to showcase our award-winners at additional events.
