2026 IMPORTANT NEWS:
The registration to the 7th Edition of the Francigena Film Festival will officially open on OCTOBER the 12th, 2025. The FRANCIGENA FILM FESTIVAL will take place on 2026 in SAN GIMIGNANO, the city of towers, located in the heart of Tuscany along the VIA FRANCIGENA and in COLLE DI VAL D'ELSA, the city of Arnolfo Di Cambio.

L'apertura delle Registrazioni alla 7° Edizione del Francigena Film Festival si aprirà ufficialmente il prossimo 12 Ottobre 2025. La Settima Edizione del Francigena Film Festival si terrà nell'affascinante cornice di San Gimignano, la città delle torri unica al mondo e situata proprio lungo la Via Francigena, da cui parte la Tappa 32, e a Colle di Val d'Elsa, città di Arnolfo Di Cambio.
It is a singular chance to visit this unique landscape and the Via Francigena 32° Stage: from San Gimignano to Monteriggioni, among the most fascinating of the Via Francigena, during the Festival “kermesse”.

The Francigena Film Festival will in fact be an opportunity for meetings and side events about the Journey and cinema: nature, culture, food, wine.

We accept short film submissions up to 20 minutes from all around the world, of all kinds.
Our inspiration is “the Journey” even intended as the Path, in all it's different parts: the freedom of interpretation is up to the Filmmakers, Directors and Authors.
The shortfilm is a Journey itself, as the Cinema, as our life.

Si accettano Cortometraggi fino a 20 minuti di lunghezza: ci piacerebbe che fossero in qualche modo ispirati dal Viaggio, o che raccontino il Viaggio. Ma il "viaggio" è ovunque! Viaggio interiore, viaggio fisico, mentale, viaggio nel passato, nel futuro, un viaggio nella memoria, o della speranza o un meraviglioso viaggio d'amore o alla scoperta.
Ogni declinazione possibile di VIAGGIO, nella libera interpretazione dei Filmmakers.
Il Cortometraggio è un viaggio, come il Cinema, come la vita.

The Creator and Artistic Director of the Francigena Film Festival is Giovanni Guidelli: actor, author and awarded director.
Our jurors are among the best professionals of the italian film industry.
We will announce the names of our Jury of the 7th EDITION during spring 2026.

We only care about quality shorts, intelligent vision, experimentation and authorial style. We can assure you that being selected here means that your film has all that is needed to be recognized as an author's film.
The FRANCIGENA FILM FESTIVAL will take place in Italy, in SAN GIMIGNANO, in the heart of Tuscany, and in Colle di Val d'Elsa, the city of Arnolfo Di Cambio.

*The FRANCIGENA has been certified "Cultural Route of the Council of Europe" in 1994-
The Via Francigena was a communication path which contributed to the cultural unity of Europe in the Middle Ages. Today, the Via Francigena is considered as a bridge between the cultures of the Anglo-Saxon Europe and the Latin Europe.
That is why the Programming Committee decided to name FRANCIGENA this new Film Festival.
The Prize (our Pilgrim's Bag, a handcrafted crystal ad gold dust opera made from the crystal masters hands) will be awarded for the best Short Film and for Special Mentions
Special mentions will be assigned to: best director, best actress, best actor, best photography, best screenplay, best editing.

There will be an audience award and mentions assigned by our media partners too.
The festival counts on the help of media-partnerships and cultural partners in the area.
So... if you love real experience, real Cinema, real e-motions... we are looking for you: your travel IDEA (travel and journey in their different meanings: in the future, back to past, escape, love, mental journey, ecc...)
