In recent years, the audiovisual industry has changed at an accelerated pace: digital platforms, mobile consumption, and new narrative grammars have transformed the way stories are told and discovered. The vertical (9:16), short, and phone-first format has stopped being an experiment to become a powerful language, capable of connecting with global audiences without sacrificing depth or authorial identity.

In this context, FANTASTIC PAVILION VERTICAL CINEMA Cannes 2026 emerges as a response to this turning point. In its first edition within the Fantastic Pavilion (Marché du Film, Cannes), it will present an international showcase featuring a selection of works in the vertical 9:16 format, focused on horror, fantasy, and science fiction. These pieces, created for mobile and social networks, will be exhibited to the global film industry community, opening a new space for emerging talent who dare to view Genre from a different perspective.

FANTASTIC PAVILION VERTICAL CINEMA is the new window for Genre cinema: a territory to explore disruptive narratives, emerging formats, and the digital pulse of the Fantastic. In Cannes 2026, horror is viewed vertically.

Do you dare to look at horror from a different frame? We'll see you in May — Palais des Festivals, Cannes.

You are invited to participate in this call by Fantastic Pavilion, Mórbido, and Blood Window — three platforms united by the same vision: to drive the growth of fantastic genre cinema in all its forms and formats.

Fantastic Pavilion, an official space within the Marché du Film (Cannes Film Festival), brings together the global fantastic cinema community: producers, distributors, programmers, and studios that bet on the innovation and diversity of the Genre.

Mórbido, is LATAM's leading genre entertainment powerhouse, specializing in horror, fantasy, and sci-fi. With 18 editions of its Film Festival, a 15-year radio show, and a premium pay tv channel across Latin America. Its production arm has produced, coproduced and released 19+ films, while its distribution company handles all content licensing, festival programing and theatrical distribution with 17+ releases over six years.

Blood Window is the international platform dedicated to promoting Ibero-American fantastic genre cinema. Through showcases, labs, and industry activities, it promotes new voices in horror, fantasy, and science fiction, strengthening the visibility, development, and circulation of projects in key stages of production and distribution.

The jury may award a FANTASTIC PAVILION VERTICAL CINEMA Cannes 2026 Special Mention to the work most innovative in vertical language and narrative.

  • It has been a unique experience. I made a vertical film, "Dracula Wants to Die," based on a play that I've been documenting since its premiere here in Chile, with the aim of taking it on an international tour to Romania as a producer and using the opportunity to make a feature film. Thanks to the exhibition at Fantastic Pavilion Vertical Cinema and Bloodwindowtv in Cannes, I already have people interested in supporting and co-producing it.
Being selected is an honor and has given me renewed energy for this and other audiovisual projects as a producer.
