The Savoir-Faire Shorts Film Festival
A Program of the Broward County Film Society

Born from the creative legacy of the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival (FLIFF) — which celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2026 — FLIFFShorts (branded as the Savoir-Faire Shorts Film Festival) is a bold, dynamic celebration dedicated exclusively to the art of short filmmaking.

FLIFFShorts was created to spotlight visionary storytellers working in short form — filmmakers who know that great cinema doesn’t need feature length to leave a lasting impact.

The inaugural four-day festival took place February 2025 at Savor Cinema in Fort Lauderdale, presenting nearly 100 innovative and captivating short films from 30 countries, including the United States. The festival proudly spotlighted “Made in Broward” films, highlighting local filmmakers alongside international voices.

Films were presented across 14 curated thematic programs spanning animation, comedy, drama, thriller, sci-fi, LGBTQ+ stories, documentaries, and more. In-person Q&A sessions with filmmakers and talent created meaningful dialogue and audience engagement, reinforcing the festival’s commitment to community and creative exchange.

Beginning with its second edition, FLIFFShorts moved to its permanent November dates, continuing annually each November as a key platform for bold, diverse, and compelling short-form storytelling.

Although the awards will alter each year, In our latest edition, prizes were awarded to:

It was a great Festival. I loved watching other filmmakers work, and yes, I loved winning! The organizers were fantastic, available to answer questions and chat about films and life. Loved it.

  • This was my second year at the FLIFFShorts festival, and this year was even better than last year. The whole even was lots of fun, everyone was so nice, and getting to see so many really well done shorts at one time was amazing. Can't wait for next year!

We had the privilege of screening “(Almost) A Star” at FLIFF Shorts. It was an honor to attend as a “selected” filmmaker. We screened at the beautiful Savor Cinema in Fort Lauderdale, along side friends and peers. We are sooo extremely grateful to Hal and his team for an amazing event.Congratulations to all the filmmakers that were also selected. See you next time!

It has been a pleasure participating again in the festival, with my short film LOUT! Unfortunately I couldn't be there this time around, but the organizers were kind enough to offer invitations which my local friends used and reported about how great the selection of films has been and how everything was impeccably organized. Definitely a festival I will return to in the future!
