KickstART Farmington is pleased to announce that the annual Farmington Film Festival (formerly known as the Greater Farmington Film Festival) will return exclusively to the Farmington Civic Theater in downtown Farmington on March 5-8, 2026.

The Farmington Film Festival will present a mix of documentary and narrative films that celebrate the creative spirit and the power of the arts to inspire a better world.

Call for submissions for the 2026 Farmington Film Festival is now open! We are accepting short-film submissions for two programs:

• Michigan Shorts – highlighting filmmakers currently living or working in Michigan
• International Shorts – open to filmmakers worldwide

This year’s festival theme focuses on art and the creative spirit. We welcome short films of any genre—including narrative, documentary, animation, hybrid, and experimental—that explore the artistic process, creative expression, or the role of the arts in our lives and communities.

All selected films for the 2026 Farmington Film Festival will receive a screening fee.

There will be an Audience Choice award for each short film program.

My documentary short "Sincerely, Sage Jo" was featured as part of Farmington Festivals Michigan Shorts block. Fantastic festival, the staff were great, the venue was super cool, and the film community in Farmington was remarkably welcoming and involved. Couldn't stay as long as I would've due to a tailbone injury but loved being a part of it and will definitely be back next year.

  • The GFFF was great to work with. I ended up not being able to attend the actually festival unfortunately but their communication with me leading up to it was fantastic.
