The Eugene Environmental Film Festival believes in creating space and a platform to address and bring light to critical issues facing our planet. We support the work being done at local and global levels and share a deep connection and responsibility to protect the environment and work in solidarity with others in the struggle for environmental justice.

We do this through creating a 10 day event with meaningful and inspiring films, discussion, speakers, workshops, and special events starting the last weekend of September and ending the first weekend of October in downtown Eugene. We will screen all films twice. We also strive to provide opportunities to connect participants with outlets to take action on environmental and social justice issues.

We seek to raise awareness of all that is the environment globally and locally. We aim to provide a holistic perspective concerning the ways that we enjoy the environment; to understand the ways the environment feeds and nourishes us; to address the exploitation and harm to the environment; and to explore ways that we resist and protect the environment. Our vision is to raise awareness and inspire positive change.

Eugene is an ideal location to host an environmental film festival. We have great access to the outdoors with 10,000 ft. peaks to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west. Many people who live here are socially conscious about and active in environmental issues. There are numerous environmentally-based non-profits located in Eugene tackling issues such as food justice, local to global changes in laws and policies , sustainability, and environmental justice. Eugene is the birth place of Our Children's Trust, which is an organization to empower the voice of youth to protect the environment. And the City of Eugene has multiple sustainability initiatives.

If your film is chosen for the 2024 film festival we will provide complimentary lodging at a homestay or shared air BnB filmmaker hub, film festival passes, and access to special events. In addition, filmmakers have an opportunity to discuss your film at screenings and special events. This is a great opportunity for filmmakers to promote their work, inspire change, and network with others. Each film will be granted (1) room for up to 2 guests for (3) nights. For special needs or accommodations to include ADA compliant accommodations, reach out to festival team for special requests.

In addition, we carve out space for young filmmakers 18 years and younger. The purpose is to highlight youth involvement in, concern for, and protection of the environment.

We are a small group of dedicated volunteers and look forward to your participation in next year's Eugene Environmental Film Festival.

  • This is a very well organized Festival. The communication with Ana was very fluid all the time and the transportation and accommodation facilities they provided me far exceeded my expectations. I also had the opportunity to share moments with other filmmakers and the audience interested in conservation, sustainability, and the environment. I want to thank the festival for the "Honorable Mention" given to my documentary "The Art of Freedom"

This festival was grassroots and community oriented to its core. Our film Rematriation won the “Spirit of Activism” award, which again speaks to the values EEFF promotes. The organizers were extreme engaged, and as a filmmaker I felt very well looked after. I made some strong ties with other filmmakers, ant events and in the beautiful shared housing, in a stunning Victorian home so characteristic of Eugene. I felt I had been provided a platform by the festival to share my filmmaking journey and the surrounding issues with people that cared, during a workshop I had held and at my screening. This festival was really special for me as it is in my hometown (been living abroad basically my whole life though), and I felt honoured and respected by the festival and it’s audience for bringing my work here. The quality of the work overall was very good, and I’m thankful again to Ana and the other organizers and volunteers for this great and fruitful experience. It meant a lot to me and I won’t forget this ever!

  • This is a great festival. The staff of the EEFF are not only personable and cool, but they do a great job. As an East Coast filmmaker, they provided great accommodations for filmmakers, as well as a bag full of useful things during your stay. The venue of the festival is amazing, and the staff went out of their way to help me feel welcome. Huge thanks to Beth for accompanying me into the mountains for a morning hike the day before I left. I truly hope to return to this festival again. Thanks EEFF

A wonderful festival, very well organized and the communication was great. We were part of 2022 physical festival, one of our core team member was able to attend the screening and join the Q&A afterwards. The festival team was very welcoming and made it very comfortable for us to attend the festival. Cheer to the Festival!

  • The virtual programming was seamless and the workshops and panels, as well as music performances, created a vital cultural space. I so much appreciated the focus on environmental justice and activism as well!
