As a proud Chicago native, Estrella uses her unique perspective growing up in Humboldt Park to show parts of Latinidad and Chicago culture that are rarely seen on screen.
She often uses visual language to send hidden messages to her viewers in order to captivate them. Movies are blank canvases that Estrella paints in unique ways.

Drawing inspiration from the colorful and chaotic Mexican culture, Estrella uses color, movement, and shadows to draw audiences into the film.
