THE ELBA FILM FESTIVAL was born out of a genuine wish to connect filmmakers from all over the world, to celebrate their hard work and help them get support, motivation and inspiration for their upcoming projects.

With our Festival we want to create a community of creators. We want to share inspiring and thought-provoking films that open up our world view and celebrate our differences, while uniting us all through one of the most powerful mediums of our times: Cinema!

We believe that films are critical to the understanding of what it means to be human, they promote empathy and a more inclusive society, while allowing us to step into another person's perspective and get to know worlds that are very different from the ones we grew up in.
It is our Festival's mission to celebrate our differences while uniting us all through the power of our stories.

During the four days that the festival takes place, you will be given the opportunity to enjoy the island during one of its best times of the year. The Elba Film Festival staff will do all it can to make you feel at home and enjoy the thrill that it is to watch your film on a big screen!

Films will be considered for inclusion in the following programmatic categories

Narrative Short Film
Documentary Short Film
Animation Short Film
Student Short Film

The festival accepts FilmFreeway Online Screeners, or Vimeo Links for the complete film. The festival will not consider trailers or rough edits for selection purposes.

To be eligible, all films must meet the following requirements:

Maximum lenght: 30 min.
Italian and English subtitles must be provided in case of selection
The films must be in original language
Have been completed production within 2019-2022
Be eligible to screen by August 28th 2022
Be eligible to VOD screening from Italy (geoblocked). This requirement is not mandatory The films must be received by 15.06.2022

REQUIREMENTS FOR SELECTED FILMS

Once the entry has been reviewed and selected for the festival, a preliminary notification letter will be issued by email. All selected applicants will be notified by August 1st.
All unclaimed materials will be disposed of 30 days upon conclusion of the festival.
Promotional Usage: Participants agree that all materials related to their film may be published in the Festival Guide, website, ticketing system, and other promotional materials or property and in all media. Posters and images of the film may be used independently as well as in combination with images from other films to promote the film and Film Festival of Elba.

Clearances: If selected for screening, all commercial and private property including trademarks and or copyrighted materials shown and recorded in the project must come with authorised permission for screening. The Filmmaker remains entirely liable for any claims that may occur in the result of screening the film.

Really enjoyed the festival for many reasons. The hospitality was fantastic. We were made to feel very welcome by the organisers. The selection of shorts was excellent, a very high standard that included two sundance selections. And the Island itself is beautiful, with a relaxed, chilled-out vibe. Thanks a million to Ben, Tommasso, Olga, Nora, Claudio and all the team for making us feel so welcome during our time there.

Despite the circumstances we all know, I was able to attend the 2020 edition of the Elba Film Festival. I could see how the whole team was involved in making this special edition much more than a second one but a real success : of course, the island of Elba - especially, Marciana Marina - is splendid but above all, the selection of films screened was of a high standard. The screenings and interviews I attended were perfectly organized despite these famous circumstances : outdoors or indoors when the weather was unsafe / physically or by videoconferences (for the directors who could not come to Elba). The organizers are themselves filmmakers, actors or film technicians, they love cinema, you can feel it : they have the eyes, the kindness and above all, the heart and the smile to welcome the filmmakers in selection.
It was a great honor to see my fiction selected, screened, and awarded (Cinematography Award) by this wonderful festival.
Congratulations and thank you to the whole team. I look forward to seeing you again.

Festival is good! Some hiccups w/ communication that were a bit frustrating. Venue looked GREAT, and Q&A (digital) after screening was very well organized. Would have loved to VISTIT!
