Edinburgh Short Film Festival 2026 Now Open For Entries!

The 16th edition with International Film Festival showcases, more short film screenings, trophies, cash prizes and awards. Networking is a strong focus this year.

ESFF is now a BIFA Qualifying festival.

film-makers, with awards, trophies & cash prizes for:
Best Film, Best Animation & Best Scottish Short

We're also thrilled to be programming showcases of our best films for our 2026 international partners.

Max Length 25 minutes, international films welcomed, all genres eligible.

The final deadline for submissions is Friday June 19th 2026

Winners may also be included in our 'Best of Fest' screening and included in any showcase programme we present at our international film festival partners editions. We will contact the filmmaker for their agreement to participate in any of these partner programmes and provide invitations to attend.
