The International Meeting on Video-dance and Video-art (EIVV, Valencia, Spain, 13th edition) and the Festival International de Vidéo Danse de Bourgogne (Burgundy, France, 18th edition) propose a shared call for works of screendance. Each festival will maintain independent curation, and the artists will be considered for each program for the events in the autumn.

El Encontre Internacional de Videodansa i Videoart (Valencia, España, 13ª edición) y el Festival International de Vidéo Danse de Bourgogne (Borgoña, Francia, 18ª edición) proponen una llamada compartida para obras de videodanza. Los festivales mantendrán una selección independiente, y los artistas serán considerados para cada festival y sus eventos en el otoño.

Les Rencontres Internationales de Vidéodanse et Vidéoart (EIVV, Valence, Espagne) et le Festival International de Vidéo Danse de Bourgogne (Bourgogne, France) s'associent pour partager un appel à oeuvres de vidéodanse. Les festivals conserveront une programmation indépendante, mais offriront aux artistes la possibilité d'être considérés pour les deux festivals et leurs événements.

Awards & Prizes

ENGLISH: Selection as Recognition

The award is the selection itself with a selection rate around or below 1%. Each work undergoes a rigorous curatorial process focused on artistic quality and the innovative use of choreo-cinematographic language. Selected works and creators are presented through curatorial program notes; additionally, talks with artists and curators can be organized to facilitate the audience’s understanding and appreciation of the works and their creative processes.

FIVB (Burgundy):
Selected works will be broadcast on established platforms such as numeridanse.tv and the festival’s official digital channels.

EIVV (Valencia):
A core mission of Videodance Studies, at the base of EIVV, is the creation of a permanent memory for screendance. Each selected work is integrated into a specialized repository at https://videodance.webs.upv.es/, utilizing the UPV media server (media.upv.es) for high-quality viewing.

The EIVV provides a curatorial description of the selection along with detailed program notes for each work, which can be accompanied by academic publications. This ensures long-term visibility and integration into a formal archive designed for researchers, artists, and the general audience.

El premio es la propia selección, con una tasa de aceptación en torno al 1% o inferior. Cada obra se somete a un riguroso proceso de análisis y revisión centrado en la calidad artística y en el uso innovador del lenguaje coreocinematográfico. Las obras y sus creadores se presentan mediante notas de programa detalladas; además, se pueden organizar charlas con artistas y responsables de la selección para facilitar la comprensión y el aprecio del público hacia las obras y sus procesos creativos.

FIVB (Borgoña): Difusión Internacional
Las obras seleccionadas se difundirán en plataformas de prestigio como numeridanse.tv y en los canales digitales oficiales del festival.

EIVV (Valencia): Memoria Permanente
Una misión fundamental de Videodance Studies, base del EIVV, es la creación de una memoria permanente para la videodanza. Cada obra seleccionada se integra en un repositorio especializado en https://videodance.webs.upv.es/, utilizando el servidor de medios de la UPV (media.upv.es) para su visualización en alta calidad.

El EIVV ofrece una presentación detallada de la selección junto con notas de programa de cada obra, que pueden ir acompañadas de publicaciones académicas. Esto garantiza la visibilidad a largo plazo y la integración en un archivo formal diseñado para investigadores, artistas y el público en general.

FRANÇAIS : La sélection comme reconnaissance

Le prix consiste en la sélection elle-même, avec un taux d'acceptation d'environ 1 % ou moins. Chaque œuvre est soumise à un processus rigoureux de sélection et d'analyse, axé sur la qualité artistique et l'utilisation innovante du langage choréo-cinématographique. Les œuvres et les créateurs sélectionnés sont présentés à travers des notes de programme détaillées ; de plus, des rencontres avec les artistes et les responsables de la sélection peuvent être organisées pour faciliter la compréhension et l'appréciation des œuvres et des processus de création par le public.

FIVB :
Les œuvres sélectionnées seront diffusées sur des plateformes de prestige telles que numeridanse.tv ainsi que sur los canaux numériques officiels du festival.

EIVV :
L'une des missions fondamentales de Videodance Studies, à la base de l'EIVV, est la création d'une mémoire permanente pour la vidéo-danse. ENGLISH

General Guidelines
Submission is free and open to works from any region and any year. Works previously submitted to EIVV or FIVB may be resubmitted for consideration in new programs. Selected works will be presented in an online format and will be considered for future screenings at cultural institutions.

Categories

VIDEODANCE / SCREENDANCE / VIDEOPERFORMANCE: Focuses on works in which dance has been specifically created for the screen in partnership with camera, editing, and other moving image tools.

ABSTRACT VIDEOART: Abstract videoart uses the moving image as material for audio-visual composition rather than representation. Moving images may arise from filmed reality or from animation, digital transformation, and synthesis. Its expressive elements are rhythm, color, light, texture, and visual structure, forming what can be called a choreography of images and sound, including visual music.

AI & CHOREOGRAPHIC MOVEMENT (New for 2026): For works using Artificial Intelligence as a creative medium to investigate, generate, or transform movement. We seek works using generative video (such as prompt-based generation or motion control from body recordings) as a tool for choreographic research.

Not accepted: Stage documentations; music videos without choreographic intent; traditional storytelling or representational video; character-driven narratives or animation without choreographic intention.

La inscripción es gratuita y está abierta a obras de cualquier región y año de producción. Se pueden volver a presentar obras enviadas anteriormente al EIVV o al FIVB para su consideración en nuevos programas. Las obras seleccionadas se presentarán en formato online y serán consideradas para futuras proyecciones en instituciones culturales.

Categorías

VIDEODANZA / SCREENDANCE / VIDEOPERFORMANCE: Se centra en obras en las que la danza ha sido creada específicamente para la pantalla en colaboración con la cámara, el montaje y otras herramientas de la imagen en movimiento.

VIDEOARTE ABSTRACTO: El videoarte abstracto utiliza la imagen en movimiento como material para la composición audiovisual en lugar de para la representación. Las imágenes pueden surgir de la realidad filmada o de la animación, la transformación digital y la síntesis. Sus elementos expresivos son el ritmo, el color, la luz, la textura y la estructura visual, formando lo que puede llamarse una coreografía de imágenes y sonido, incluyendo la música visual.

IA Y MOVIMIENTO COREOGRÁFICO (Novedad 2026): Para obras que utilizan la Inteligencia Artificial como medio creativo para investigar, generar o transformar el movimiento. Buscamos trabajos que empleen el vídeo generativo (como la generación mediante prompts o el control de movimiento a partir de registros corporales) como herramienta de investigación coreográfica.

No se aceptan: Documentaciones de escena; vídeos musicales sin intención coreográfica; relatos tradicionales o vídeo representativo; narrativas centradas en personajes o animación sin intención coreográfica.

L'inscription est gratuite et ouverte aux œuvres de toute région et de toute année de production. Les œuvres déjà soumises à l'EIVV ou au FIVB peuvent être présentées à nouveau pour examen dans de nouveaux programmes. Les œuvres sélectionnées seront présentées dans un format en ligne et pourront être envisagées pour de futures projections dans des institutions culturelles.

VIDÉO-DANSE / SCREENDANCE / VIDÉO-PERFORMANCE : Se concentre sur des œuvres où la danse a été spécifiquement créée pour l'écran en partenariat avec la caméra, le montage et d'autres outils de l'image en mouvement.

VIDÉO-ART ABSTRAIT / IMAGES CINÉTIQUES : L'art vidéo abstrait utilise l'image en mouvement comme matériau de composition audiovisuelle plutôt que comme représentation. Les images peuvent provenir de la réalité filmée, de l'animation, de la transformation numérique ou de la synthèse. Ses éléments expressifs sont le rythme, la couleur, la lumière, la texture et la structure visuelle, formant ce que l'on peut appeler une chorégraphie d'images et de sons, incluant la musique visuelle.

IA ET MOUVEMENT CHORÉGRAPHIQUE (Nouveauté 2026) : Pour les œuvres utilisant l'Intelligence Artificielle comme médium créatif pour investiguer, générer ou transformer le mouvement. Nous recherchons des travaux utilisant la vidéo générative (telle que la génération par prompts ou le contrôle de mouvement à partir d'enregistrements corporels) comme outil de recherche chorégraphique.

    After my work was officially selected, I noticed the following statement displayed next to my name and work on the festival’s website:

    “The selection also invites us to compare the mass demonstrations against Donald Trump in the United States with large-scale group choreographies, where marching becomes meaningful — an act of defiance against power.”

    It is truly astonishing that the organizers of a festival dedicated to the creative work of artists would use it to promote a political or ideological message without consulting the directors or the artists themselves. An international festival should remain free of political influence or promotion of any kind. Given that my work was used without permission for political purposes, I find this unacceptable. For this reason, I was withdrawing my work from the official selection, any potential awards, and all forms of publication associated with the festival.

    In addition to all this, the Festival Director, Franck Boulegue, initiated a conversation with me about the alleged fascism of Donald Trump and other world leaders — a topic that has absolutely nothing to do with the theme or purpose of the video dance festival. I strongly advise other artists not to submit their work to this festival, as it may be used to convey political messages or positions that they do not support.

    FYI, here's the message Igor sent us: "Hello Franck, Hello Marisa, My work should not be presented at any festival that has any kind of connection to political movements first. Since you have explicitly mentioned Donald Trump, your political stance is clear. Therefore, I do not wish to support your festival or its associated movement. I kindly ask you to remove my work from the festival and from all related media if it is like that. We stand with Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin, Marine Le Pen, and Alice Weidel, and oppose all so-called democratic parties worldwide that, in our view, lead to war and violence and culturless movement... We do not support any organizations that are hostile to culture, lack traditions, are without religion, anti-family, are disconnected from nature, and that under the guise of democracy, create wars around the world, impose their values and norms on other countries and cultures, and stand for this form of modern fascism. We therefore request the immediate deletion of the work as well as the names from all publications of your cruel festival in 24 hours". As we explained, our festival has no connection to political movements, only to democracy, truth and human decency. It goes without saying that this implies opposing any sort of fascist movement such as those led by Trump, Putin, Le Pen, or other mass murderers of their kind. Unfortunately, it seems that Igor doesn't agree with this, so we removed his film from our official selection. He is the one who supports a disgusting political message, not us.

    Such an honour to be included in this years selection amongst such talented makers. The program is also rare, to see our area of dance/camera/film/synthesis represented is fantastic, I just wish there was a way to meet and discuss with the other makers.

    It's particularly encouraging to have my videos "Run version vertical" and "Song Lines" shown at this International Videodance festival. These works are not dance films in themselves but contain the movement and rhythm of dance.
