Durgapur International Film Festival

The short film festival at Durgapur was started by Solis Institute of Acting & Arts – Durgapur under the ownership of Debolina Modak Sadhu and Tiyasha Movies – Kolkata under the ownership of Kajari Modak. The 1st festival was initially organised in 2016 and was named as “Solis Short Film Festival – Durgapur”. For the last two consecutive years, this event has gathered a huge popularity among the people of Durgapur, Kolkata & various parts of West Bengal & outside. In the 1st festival, total 25-30 numbers of short films were screened in the presence of expert judges from Theatre & Film Industry. In 2nd Short Film Festival – 2017, the event could gathered 45-50 numbers of finely worked short films under various cadres. In that festival, we were blessed by the
presence of legendary actor Mr. Chinmay Roy and we had the opportunity to honour him with “Life Time Achievement Award”.
3rd Film Festival was enriched with more than 100 short films in various cadres.
The legendary actor of Tollywood Mr. Biplab Chatterjee was honoured with Life Time Achievement Award.
4th Festival conducted in Jan 2019 gathered more than 130 entries from various parts of the country and few came from outside India. Top 35 entries have been screened in the presence of expert Juries.
5th Festival conducted online in Sep 2020 due to corona pandemic worldwide. Even with all the restrictions of lockdown across the world, our festival could manage to gather more than 130 entries from various parts of the country & more then 40 entries came from outside India. Our team can't be thankful enough for the kind of support you film-makers have shown on us.
In 2021, it is witnessing its 6th season with total submission of
more than 250 short films/documentary/music video from the various countries of the world.As we all are going through a challenging phase of life due to awake of Covid-
19 Corona Virus across the world, so organised this festival on a popular platform called “MyCinemaHall.Com” to give this festival a new height. This will give a global platform to all the brilliant film-makers to showcase their works to the film lovers across the world. With the new hope of Corona Virus Vaccine, we will be organizing this year's festival as a mega event & will be conducted in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. Kolkata is a city of cultural heritage having a traditional history of film making. Hope, DIFF Season 7 in 2022 will be as joyful and successful like all the last seasons.
This year 7th DIFF,2022 has even added full length fil or feature film.At just 7 years old, the Durgapur International Film Festival has quickly become one of the popular and most trusted festivals in the world.
In 2022, it is witnessing its 7th season with total submission of
more than 350 short films/documentary/music/full length video from the various countries of the world. This year we organized festival as a mega event in Kolkata, West Bengal, India at Jadavpur University . Kolkata is a city of cultural heritage having a traditional history of film making.

At 8th Durgapur International Film Festival except India 19 more countries including Turkey, UAE, USA, Iran, Afghanistan, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China, Mayanmar, Philippines, Greece, Mexico, Sweeden, UK has also participated. From more than 200 entries , 73 official selections have been screened from 9th October, to 11th October.

Full length films, Documentary, Music videos, Short Films from different parts of the world have been screened at this festival for the last 3 days. A total of 30 categories have been awarded, And 55 awards have been given.

All the judges were present at the closing economy of the event.. Many artists and technicians attended the closing ceremony of 8th Durgapur International Film Festival,2023 including Chhanda Chatterjee, Krishna Kishor, Shankar Ghosh, Avrajit Chakraborty , Respected Director Sushil Mazumder’s grand son Sanjay Misra and others. The festival was going on for 3 days at Muktangan, Rashbihari More , Kolkata.
