DICFF is about celebrating comedy in film.
So often comedy is overlooked in favour of drama. Drama is in fact easier to write, direct and perform.
Comedy is much more difficult and you know if you've succeeded or failed by how many laughs you get!
So, DICFF is here to ensure comedy gets it's due. We want to support our comedic storytellers and celebrate your craft.

in 2024, we implemented a brand new Comedian Competition! We had stand-up heats throughout the summer of 2024 & 2025 and we had 5 finalists perform at the DICFF festiva The winners in each year, Breda Hegarty and Martina Ipsa won an all expenses paid trip to New Jersey USA to perform at our sister festival , "The Irish American Comedy Film Fleadh".

Nell Mercier won the Best Irish Short Film Award for her short film "Dawn of the Ick" & also won an all paid expenses trip to New Jersey USA to our sister film festival to watch her short being screened there.

Now, based at the sumptuous Tailors Hall in D8, we will ensure that you will have a gorgeous time watching hilarious films in this historical building, famous for it's Irish Revolutionary roots with famous Irish revolutionary Wolf Tone having his meetings here.

  • I felt like this was such a wonderful festival to be a part, even though I couldn't make it from Australia to the actual event. The communication was top notch, and you could feel the vibe of the event from ten thousand miles away. Thanks for showing our film BOOKSHOP, Dublin!
