The Door County Film Festival is a grass roots, community driven event with goals of: encouraging the creation of moviemaking; establishing and hosting a winter event in beautiful Door County Wisconsin; entertaining and benefiting residents, visitors and businesses.
Door County is a great place to "get away from it all" in the middle of winter and watch some wonderful films from all over the world.

Awards & Prizes

Our audience chosen, best of the fest award is the Coffee Mug Award. It is hand crafted by a local potter Larry "Thor" Thoreson of Gills Rock Stoneware and truly is a one of a kind award.

Jurors Award. Also a mug crafted by Larry "Thor" Thoreson of Gills Rock Stoneware. This award is chosen by a panel of filmmakers and film enthusiasts.

Rules & Terms

We are looking for all types of films and all lengths.

Filmmakers hold the responsibility to obtain all copyrights included in film. DCFF will not be held responsible for any copyright infringements.

All films accepted into next year's festival are subject to be used in promotional exhibits leading up to the festival.

    The warmth & enthusiasm of this circa 250 member audience blew me away. The volunteers were also incredibly friendly. All the films selected were at once entertaining & thought provoking. The venue, the Northern Sky Theatre, is modern and beautiful. I felt an instant community with my fellow filmmakers. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to be a part of this festival and I highly recommend it.

    Puppy Love enjoyed an incredible screening at the Door County Short Film Festival. The beautiful Northern Sky Theater was filled with an enthusiastic audience of over two hundred people and the Q&A reflected their enthusiasm and curiosity.     The cast & crew of "Confessions of a Sailor" had a blast at the Door County Short Film Festival which was also a homecoming for our movie in so many ways as we filmed almost the entire project in Door County! It was also the first in-person Door County Film Festival since the Covid-19 Pandemic. I couldn't think of a better place and time to premiere the film and kick off our 2023 festival tour!

    The weekend festival was held at the newly constructed and gorgeous Gould Theater, home of the Northern Sky Theater. The venue is great for screening films as well as offering a spacious lobby with drinks/food available and room to greet guests.

    A special shoutout and thank you to the panel of judges, volunteers, and festival organizers for making our film premiere so incredibly special! We love this festival!
