In the 1960s the scope of documentary film production and screening gradually shifted from cinema to television. So that today a large volume of production by national and local global networks is in the form of documentaries.
On the other hand, the digital revolution and easy access to modern imaging tools have led to the emergence and entry of a generation of filmmakers in the documentary field who are starting to make films without worrying about the difficulties and costs of the analog world. These artists, due to the defined cycle of documentary cinema, have no opportunity to present and see their works except for domestic and foreign festivals and limited screenings for specific audiences. Works that, after passing through this cycle of festival screening, are forced to emerge from personal archives.
This incomplete and of course forced process causes the filmmaker to be unaware of the weaknesses, strengths and feedback of his work due to the lack of interactive communication with a wide audience and the fact that his film is not seen by a wide range of tastes. Undoubtedly, the formation of a serious and persistent audience, the creation of an atmosphere of criticism and analysis, the familiarity and expansion of theories, the analysis of documentary cinema and of course the progress and learning of this important type of cinema depends on the display and viewing of documentary films in a stable and 100% course. is for a wide range of audiences.
If documentaries are shown in a fixed manner and with a specific program, when the filmmaker is aware of the audience's interest in his work in a very specific and parametric way, then the right principled and of course necessary critical atmosphere is formed in this process. A professional audience is created and individual and collective concerns in a completely cultural environment are on the path of reforming society. The Documentary Television Festival was launched in early 2017 with the slogan "Telling the Truth in the Framework of Reality".
The festival added a documentary photo section in 97 and in its second edition and a documentary section in its third edition in 1998 to cover a wider range of artists and writers in the documentary field.
Now, in the eighth edition of the event, due to the developments in the region, a special section for Palestine has been added to the festival internationally to make a small contribution to expressing and reflecting the pains of the oppressed Palestinian people.
