Danilo Bjelica is a screenwriter and director born in Kotor, Montenegro in 1999. He is a final year student at Faculty of Media and Communications, Department for Digital Arts, Audio-visual techniques and media production, Screenwriting and Directing.
Danilo discovered his passion for film through written word, a great desire for novel writing transformed into film and art that manages to expand the written word. In his development as a screenwriter, he made the most progress in working with Professor Vuk Ršumović, who is also his mentor at university. He accepted the rules and forms and directed his ideas accordingly. Danilo is interested in dramas, both social and others. Through his work in screenplay writing, he holds the belief that an authentic world can be constructed, one that blurs the line between fiction and reality, allowing the stories we witness to come to life.
Through collaboration with colleagues, he participated in numerous short films during his years of study, while in his second year, he wrote the short film "The Verdict," which was supported by the Serbian Film Center. This was one of the first projects that opened the doors to this profession.
Danilo then wrote his graduate film "Home," a story based on a personal theme and a problem he observed during his upbringing. "Home" was also supported by the Serbian Film Center, as well as the municipality of Herceg Novi and the studio "HUB247."
Danilo is preparing for his graduation, which was awaited due to the film's post-production and the two-year duration of the project itself. His plan for the future is to enroll in master's studies in film directing somewhere in Europe and to finalize his idea for his first feature-length film, which he is currently developing.
