The Dance Italia Film Festival, Second Edition: Synapse, will showcase innovative films whose themes revolve around connections throughout our world, and work that sheds light on dance and the human condition. We are especially interested in perspectives that defy linear paths and take a multi-dimensional view of shared space and somatic interactions. How do we form connections within ourselves, between peoples, and finally with our ever-shifting environment?

Awards & Prizes

Dance Italia Film Festival Audience Choice Award - All official selections are eligible for the Audience Choice Award. The winner's films will be shown at the festival July 8th, 2024.

Rules & Terms

1. All dance films 15 minutes or less will be considered. We are interested in work that centers dance and movement as primary content.

2. Films must have been completed after July 1st, 2021. Works in progress are not accepted.

3. Submissions accepted through FilmFreeway only.

4. Documentaries and live performance recordings will not be considered.

5. Film stills, and a short clip or trailer are required as part of the submission process.

6. All commercial/private property including trademark/copyrighted materials shown or recorded are the responsibility of the filmmaker. We will not take responsibility for any infringement of copywritten materials.

7. Films may not be withdrawn from the festival program after June 5, 2024. We will not offer any refund for withdrawals.

8. All selected artists will receive a modest stipend and Dance Italia Film Festival laurels.

9. Those selected to be show at the festival need to respond within one week (by June 8th) to confirm showing of film/ participation at festival.
