DA Z DIGITAL ARTS ZURICH is a leading international festival for Digital Arts.

The DA Z Festival invites to its DA Z AWARD competition VIDEO, WEB, audiovisual PERFORMANCES, AR, VR and MR works.

Like the entire festival, the DA Z AWARD expected and promotes excellence in storytelling, execution and critically questioning the digitalization of our society.

1st prize: Designed trophy, presentation in the festival program, a certificate, a laurel wreath and personal invitation to the festival in Zurich.

2nd and 3rd prize: Designed trophy, presentation in the festival program, a certificate and a laurel wreath.

RULES:
Content (Production) entries must not have been shown before 31 October 2023 and not shown in Switzerland before or while the DA Z festival of 2024, October 31st to November 10th.

SUBMISSIONS and documents will only be accepted in digital form.

PROOF of study is required for entries with student fee. Please send a copy of your student ID as PDF to: video@da-z.net stating the Filmfreeway tracking-number. If the proof is not provided and the entry was incorrectly declared as a student entry, the work will be disqualified.

WINNERS will be informed and announced October 15th 2024 and invited to the Award Ceremony of November 6th 2024. If a winner is unable to travel and to accept the trophy in-person it will be sent.

PRESENTED at the DA Z Festival can be the Content (Productions) of the winners and 2nd and 3rd place. However, the DA Z Festival reserves the right not to show any production for any reasons (e.g. if it is not technically possible or would be too costly).

JUDGING will be carried out by the DA Z Festival curatorial team with the involvement of experts if necessary. Judging of the submissions can take place at any time after a submission has been made. The jury is completely free in its decisions. The jury, the DA Z Festival curatorial team and the DA Z Festival do not provide any information about their decisions.

SUBMITTING a Content (a Production), the submitter granted the permission to use the work on any platform associated with the DA Z Festival (e.g. website, social media). DA Z Festival has the right to use material from selected submissions to edit the work for a variety of reasons (e.g. reduce run time) and to use it to promote the award and the festival as well.

All submissions are not eligible for a refund of fees or any other compensation. No screening fees will be paid. 
In general submissions does not imply any obligation to show the Content at the DA Z Festival. The digital files of rejected submissions will be deleted.

By submitting a Content (a Production), the submitter accepts that the Content of the winners an 2nd and 3rd places will remain in the archive of the festival without time and space restrictions and will be accessible to the public via web platforms.

EVENTS including the Award Ceremony, venues, dates and times are subject to change. If the DA Z Festival is postponed or canceled submissions will be considered for the next edition of the festival.

AR / VR / XR: Provide a link to your work file and/or a trailer and/or installation package via the submission form. If your application is already on an App Store or Online Store, please send a link to video@da-z.net along with a promo code to allow us to download it free of charge. If it’s not yet published in an App Store or Online Store, upload it to a secure location and mail the link to: video@da-z.net. If you have important additional details please send it to: video@da-z.net

If your submission is not compatible with current standard technologies, cannot be viewed, played or shown, we have to disqualify the entry.

TRACKING:

Please label your file and any correspondence with your submission with the Filmfreeway tracking-number.

LEGAL CLAIMS:

1. By submitting a production (hereby Content) to the DA Z Festival, the submitter (hereby Submitting Parties) warrant and represent that: (I) The Content is wholly original and is not copied from and does not include any other work that is the subject of copyright or other protection, unless such work is in the public domain or the Submitting Parties have obtained any and all consents, licenses, releases and other authorisations of any kind necessary for the inclusion or reproduction of any person, character, location, sound recording, musical composition, thing, trade-mark or any other creative work in the Content; (II) The Content does not violate the common law or statutory rights, including, without limitation, the rights of privacy and publicity or any other right of any person; (III) The Content is not the subject of litigation nor any dispute which would give rise to litigation; (IV) There are no agreements nor will there be any agreements made subsequent to the date of this Content submission that would or could have the effect of impairing the Submitting Parties’ ability to provide the Content as contemplated herein, or otherwise conflict with any provision of these terms; (V) The Submitting Parties have the full right and authority to submit the Content to the DA Z Festival, and to grant all of the rights granted hereunder and in the FilmFreeway registration form, and there is no obligation or disability which would in any way impair, restrict or impede the Submitting Parties from fully performing all obligations pursuant to the submission and these Terms. 


2. The Submitting Parties agree to indemnify and hold harmless the DA Z Festival, its licensees, successors and assigns, and its and their members, officers, directors, employees, agents, representatives, associates and affiliates (each a Releasee), from any claim, suit, action or other proceeding brought against a Releasee and from any losses, costs, or damages, including the Releasee’s full legal fees and costs, which it may have suffered or incurred or may suffer or incur directly or indirectly, or based on, or in connection with, or arising from the use and exhibition of the Content submitted by the Submitting Parties or the breach or alleged breach of any representation, warranty or other agreement made by the Submitting Parties in these terms, or in the Submitting Parties FilmFreeway registration form. 


3. While in DA Z Festival’s possession, all submissions are securely stored. Access to Content is limited to the DA Z Festival staff, contractors, vendors and other 3rd parties who require access in order to screen and/or consider submissions. By submitting a Content to the DA Z Festival, the Submitting Parties hereby release the Releasees from any and all liability in the event of theft, unauthorized access or copying, or any breach of copyright of the submitted Content while it is in the DA Z Festival’s possession.

4. Any legal question will be judged according to Swiss law and will be heard at the location of Festival's registered office, which is also the place of jurisdiction.
