Croatian One-Minute Film Festival (COMFF) is the oldest international film festival established in the Republic of Croatia. The festival fosters a specific form – one minute which is, no matter of genre, very challenging and encouraging for filmmakers' creativity.

Films from the festival's programme "Join Us For A Minute" have been presented to UNESCO ambassadors in Paris in 2004 and so far in over 50 cities in more than 20 countries on 3 continents as well as numerous Croatian cities and festivals. Selected films from COMFF were also the exclusive exhibits of the One-Minute Film Museum, which took place from the 15th of June until 15th of September 2024 in Prague, Czech Republic. We received around 13000 one-minute films from 128 countries all over the world during our 33 years.

The Official Programme of the festival will be shown on May 29, 2026 at several locations in Požega. During the festival days, a selection of one-minute films from the previous editions will be screened. Various festival programmes (often there are exhibition of photographs, films or the international film quiz for filmmakers and guests) will also take place. In addition, a half-day excursion for all the guest will be organized. During the whole festival week, the flags of the countries participating in the official programme are at the main town square.

All the guests and filmmakers are having the opportunity to enjoy Croatian hospitality, a lot of really good food and drinks (especially wine, as Požega is in the famous wine region), and good time. Check our photo gallery here and at www.crominute.hr to see how things went over the years!

Awards & Prizes

Croatian One-Minute Film Festival has the international jury made of professional filmmakers. We are proud to say that during our 33 years we also had jury members who won Oscar, César, The Heart of Sarajevo, Palme d'Or, EFA and many other awards, including the most important awards in Croatia (Motovun and Pula Film Festival). The jury choose the official COMFF awards:

Open category:

GRAND PRIX (plaque), diploma, painting by Croatian academy-trained painter)
1st prize (gold medal with Croatian historical motif)
2nd prize (silver medal with Croatian historical motif)
3rd prize (bronze medal with Croatian historical motif)
All of those 4 comes with a diploma and a painting by Croatian academy-trained painter

Other awards in this category are:
Special award for solidarity and understanding between nations (special diploma)
Audience Award (special diploma)

Rules & Terms

REGULATIONS

1. 34th CROATIAN ONE-MINUTE FILM FESTIVAL is organized by GFR FILM – VIDEO, Požega and will take place on May 26 – 31, 2026 in Požega, Croatia.

2. The festival is open to all foreign and Croatian film/video makers older than 15 who are allowed to send an unlimited number of entries.

3. The length of videos must not be longer than 60 seconds (including all titles and sound).

4. Entries should be sent in PAL system as a video file(s) (mp4, mov, avi or wmv) via the internet.

The beginning of each entry should be properly marked unless each is sent as separate file via the internet.

There are 3 categories -films in category B can also be entered in category A.

Filmmakers should be older than 15.

CATEGORY A – OPEN (GENERAL) CATEGORY: send your one-minute films of any topic or genre.

CATEGORY B – TRAVEL AND TOURIST-PROMOTINAL FILMS: send your one-minute films that you've taken during your journeys, films presenting your town, county, state, their natural and cultural beauties or their tourist potential.

CATEGORY C – FILMS MADE BY THE USE OF AI: with the progress in the development of the AI numerous options in creating (generating) pictorial and video art pieces appeared.. Use this unique oportunity and test the possibilities of advanced technologies. Send us your one-minute film(s) generated by the use of AI.

5. CATEGORY A - Pre-selection will be done by the jury appointed by the organizers and Grand Prix and 3 best entries in the official programme will be awarded by the international jury of film/video experts with valuable prizes as well as medals, diplomas and Special prize for promoting solidarity between nations or using new forms of expression.

One prize will be given by voting of the audience.

Special prize will be given to the filmmaker with the largest number of submitted films.

CATEGORIES B & C – best film in each category will be awarded by the jury.

AWARDED FILMAKERS WHO ARE NOT PRESENT AT THE FESTIVAL WILL BE SENT THEIR AWARD IN THE DIGITAL FORM!

6. Filmmakers should fill in the online entry form at our official website and send their entries via the Internet or by our filmfreeway.com festival page. Entries will be projected in the best technical and security conditions.

7. The organizers may use entries for strictly non-commercial purposes to promote the festival and make copies for the archives when authorized by the filmmaker.

8. The organizers will, depending on interest and the amount of accommodation capacity, provide free accommodation and stay at the Festival (May 28 - 31, 2026) to authors whose films are in the official programme but cannot cover travelling expenses.

All other filmmakers are also invited under favourable conditions.
