The Cordillera Int’l Film Festival(CIFF) located in the beautiful region of Reno-Tahoe, Nevada is pleased to announce the highly-rated festival will return July 23-26, 2020 with a few new and exciting additions including 25K in prizes and a Grand Jury filled with Hollywood Icons, Emerging Voices and Industry Executives.
Here’s some exciting things to expect from CIFF 2020:
1st – We’re going hybrid! CIFF has pivoted to a hybrid model, providing creative limited live audience programming, moving our Movies in the Park Event (2K plus attendees) into a Drive-in Experience and investing in technology to convert to an online platform for film screenings, interactive panels and filmmaker Q&As, so attendees can safely participate in everything the festival has to offer.
2nd – We’re keeping our prizes! CIFF will be awarding cash prizes and production packages valued at over $25,000. With $6,500 in cash prizes going to our Focus on Inclusion categories dedicated to Female, Indigenous and LGTBQ filmmakers.
3rd – Our Grand Jury! With Australian Cinematographer and Academy Member, Peter Menzies, Jr., known for his diverse and critically acclaimed body of work which includes: A Time to Kill, Shooter, The Incredible Hulk, The General’s Daughter and Die Hard with a Vengeance, as Cordillera’s Chairman of the Board, we’ve assembled a who’s who of Hollywood, signing on as either Board Members or as part of the festival’s prestigious Grand Jury.
The impressive list of Oscar Award Winning and Nominated talent on our Grand Jury include:
• Writer / Director Bruce Beresford (Driving Miss Daisy, Double Jeopardy)
• Producer Hunt Lowry (Last of the Mohicans, Donnie Darko, A Walk to Remember)
• Director Benny Boom (All Eyez on Me)
• Colorist Mitch Paulson (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Unbroken, Skyfall)
• Art Director Derek Hill (Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl, The
Postman, Three Kings )
Another exciting addition to the Board is actor Kristoffer Polaha, known for his roles in Angel, North Shore, Mad Men, and DC’s highly anticipated Wonder Women 1984. Mr. Polaha will join the festival’s Future Filmmakers Foundation Board and Film Nevada Initiative.
4th – Panels, Filmmaker Q&As & Table Readings of our Finalist Screenplays! Our revered Grand Jury will be participating in interactive Panels, all Filmmakers will get a chance to be part of a live Q&A after their screenings and our screenplay finalists will get to see a selection of their screenplay brought to life by professional actors and directors at a table reading.
At Cordillera, we love what we do and we can't wait to see what the 2020 season brings to us. We look forward to getting to know you and your projects and hope to celebrate your film in July!
