Cinequeer Film Night is a film screening series centering southern queer + trans filmmakers. The showcase will happen on Sunday, June 28th 2026 at the Plaza Theater in Atlanta, GA.

Southern Fried Queer Pride (SFQP) was born out of a lack of space for Black and brown queer folks to build community, a lack of queer art, and in opposition of the established narrative of Southern queers. The South is home to the country’s largest population of LGBTQIQAP2+ individuals, yet we’re confined to a narrative of stigma, statistics, and struggle. SFQP fights that notion, and is aiding in uplifting an honest narrative of resilience, rich history, and vibrance.

This year's lineup will be competing for the audience's Peachy Pick Award ($500 cash prize) as well as the Jury's Choice Award offering additional amazing prizes.

It was wonderful working with the great people of SFQP and Visionary Justice Story Lab. The Plaza Theater where it was held was my favorite theater that I've had my film shown in. It was adorable and had such great community vibes. My work was presented respectfully and lovingly, and I met some great people. Definitely worth something to be a part of.

It was an absolute honor to be able to present my film alongside other driven and skilled filmmakers. Cinequeer is a film festival that celebrates the perspectives of the community and that is a truly wonderous thing.
