Cinema Steamboat is a one-day festival celebrating documentary and narrative short film creations of all genres from across the nation. Selected submissions this year will be projected for an audience at our Drive-In Movie Event on the evening of Saturday November 21, 2020 in beautiful Steamboat Springs, CO.

Our festival team has received incredible mentorship from Jennifer Brody and Ursla Null (Crested Butte Film Festival) as well as support from other prominent festival directors throughout Colorado. Cinema Steamboat is the fruit from the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade's "Blueprint 2.0 Initiative."

Our amazing sponsors include: Steamboat Springs Chamber, Steamboat Springs Film Committee, Steamboat Creates, Bud Werner Memorial Library, & City of Steamboat Springs.

Event support is provided by: Whistle Bird Productions, High Drama Productions Ltd,, The Main Event, & 2005 Films.

Our official lodging sponsor is: Holiday Inn Steamboat Springs.

Finally, we would like to acknowledge the wisdom provided by the Colorado Office of Film, Television, & Media.

Official Selections will be judged to determine the top three short films which will receive the following:

Best in Show Award (& a $150 prize)
2nd Place Award (& a $100 prize)

I could not attend due to the pandemic and being very far away but was impressed with the organization, the friendliness of the hosts and from what I heard, the event went really well and the short film "The Legend of Santa" which I directed and co-produced was well received.

  • Such a great festival! I was lucky to have shown my short film "The Winner" this year and earn a special citation award! I sadly was not able to attend but the festival hosts and coordinators did an incredible job. Thank you so much, I hope to submit again next year.
