Call for Submissions: Chroma Art Film Festival 2024

Chroma Art Film Festival (CAFF) invites visionary filmmakers and artists to submit their works to an expanded array of categories for our 2024 edition. CAFF is a platform for innovative narratives that blend color, light, and sound in unconventional ways. This year, we are excited to introduce "Spectrum Stories," a new segment dedicated to celebrating the rich tapestry of global cultures through the art of film.

New Categories for Submission:

Experimental Short: Push the boundaries of storytelling with films that experiment with form and style, particularly those with a science fiction flair, exploring new realities and futuristic ideas. (Max 20 mins)

Experimental Documentary/Essay Short: Present artistic and introspective takes on reality, tackling personal, societal, or cultural themes. (Max 20 mins)

Cinematic Poetry/Video Art: Embrace the fusion of poetic narratives and artistic visuals, including music videos that create an immersive, lyrical experience. (Max 10 mins)

Animation & VR: Showcase the imaginative worlds created through traditional and innovative animation or VR techniques, prioritizing storytelling and originality, suitable for family-friendly viewing. (Max 10mins for Animation, 3 mins for VR)

AI-Driven Films: Unveil the capabilities of AI in crafting compelling stories and visuals, highlighting the intersection of technology and art. (Length varies)

Prizes to Fuel Your Artistic Journey:

Grand Prize: $1,000 for the most outstanding entry across all categories.
Best in Category: To be announced (TBA) for each new category.
The Spectrum Stories Program:

"Spectrum Stories" will feature films that reflect the myriad hues of human stories, emphasizing the importance of voices often left unheard. This inclusive program aims to shatter stereotypes and foster cultural dialogue.

Rules & Terms

Please carefully review these guidelines prior to submitting your film to the Chroma Art Film Festival. Ensuring you comply with all rules will facilitate a smooth submission process.

Film Ownership: The entrant should be either the rightful owner or the duly authorized representative of the film being submitted.

Submission Fee: A non-refundable fee is required for each submission. Fees are as follows:

Early Bird Submission (end Feb 29 2024): $10
Regular Submission (ends June. 30, 2024): $15

Communication: All communications must be made through the film submitter's registered contact information.

Language and Subtitles: If your film is not in English, it must have English subtitles.

Film Production Date and Prior Screenings: We accept films produced in any year, and those previously screened at other festivals are also welcome.

Film Format: Please submit your film in MP4 format with a minimum resolution of 1080p. We may consider other formats at our discretion.

Promotional Usage: By submitting your film, you grant us the right to utilize footage or stills from your film for promotional purposes related to the festival.

Multiple Submissions: You are welcome to submit more than one film, either within the same category or across different categories.

Additional Guidelines:
1. All titles and credits have to be shown in their entirety.
2. We cannot alter the film in any way, including adding logos, credits, or making any changes to the final cut.
3. We have non-exclusive rights to show it.
4. We cannot assign any rights to the work.
5. We cannot replicate or mass produce it (i.e. compilation videos or BluRay, etc)
6. If you determine at some point that our venue is not appropriate for us to be associated with, we agree to stop using your content immediately (This is more applicable to venues that display works indefinitely).

    Chroma Art Film Festival is a bright and incredibly cool festival in one of the best museums in Miami. Excellent technique, non-standard approach to the display and exposition of the exhibition space. We liked that the curators and organizers selected video works and showed installations and sculptures as well. Thanks!
