Education Film Festival India (EFFI) 2024 Presents
InDec-Chalshiksha - Education, Films and You.

Chalchitra, moving pictures, transposing from still to motion perhaps is what may energise one to look anew at films, while connecting to learning, education and children.

As the boundaries between art and mainstream have become fuzzy, so also have the contours of art, realistic cinema and large-scale films shifted with the new genre of docu-dramas being added to the portmanteau in the last few years.

Simultaneously, in school education with a range of alternative modes of organising education becoming a practice, the divide between the conventional and the non-formal, informal, unschooling, homeschooling, democratic modes have become available
across all the variants.

Chalshiksha aims to create an annual event around films and education in all their variety, leaning towards new education practices that are humane to enrich the democratic culture of both the worlds of education and films.

The objective of the film festival is to showcase films on education alongside review education. There is no festival so far with a focus on child education. This is also to encourage filmmakers to make films around education and see it as an arena for exploration.

This year the Chalshiksha event will be held along side with InDec (India Democratic Education Conference)

Film submission & screening policy.
Kindly read all the pointers mentioned below before you proceed for any film submission.

1. Either the organising team or the content/film-maker/producer can raise the idea/apply for the screening of the film for the festival.

2. All the entries will go through the initial phase of selection by the core team members of the festival, and henceforth will be eligible for the festival screening. This selection process is extremely important since we would like to encourage films and video content related to education, educational pedagogy, stories of educational institutions, education, teachers, educational change-makers, etc both in the fiction & non-fiction category.

3. All the films that will take part in the first phase of selection (as mentioned in point 2) must have a digital presence for internal preview and decision making.

4. Since this is the second year of the film festival, will primarily focus on education, henceforth we are looking at films that must not be more than 10 years old.

5. We will only accept complete films, in any language from all over the world.

6. Films other than in the English language must have subtitles. Subtitles in English is what we recommend.

7. The film submitter must hold all the required rights to release and showcase the film for public screening.

8. You may or may not have the film certification, but the final call of whether the film will be selected for the festival or not will remain in the hands of the festival committee members. Their decision will be considered final under any circumstances.

9. There is no film submission fee.

10. Makers of the film will be allowed free entry only on the day of the particular film screening. If they want to be a part of the 3 days long festival they have to pay for the festival fees which will include their stay and food for all 3 days and also have the access to all screenings and discussion sessions.

11. After the selection, the makers and creators will be informed to present a digital format of their films on a thumb drive which will be returned to the respected filmmakers on the day of the festival.

12. Entrants need to agree that clips/posters/screenshots that will be submitted as publicity material will also be used for promotional purposes on multiple media partners if required for festival promotion and public engagement/awareness.
