Cartesian is a short film distribution company established by filmmakers for filmmakers to allow creators to take advantage of a collective audience and monetize their work. It is the only effort of it's kind which offers 100% OF ANY REVENUE EARNED BACK TO FILMMAKERS through the length of their license. Click the website for more information.

As part of our efforts Cartesian also hosts an annual film festival in Chicago Illinois. Just like Cartesian’s online distribution efforts, this festival was started so filmmakers could benefit from our mutually built audience. Because of this the rule that makes our festival special is IN ORDER FOR WORK TO SCREEN A FILMMAKER MUST BE IN ATTENDANCE! This allows for the festival to be a great networking tool for everyone involved.

The Last iteration in DePaul's full 150 person capacity 14 E Jackson Chicago Loop theater was a smash success sold out show with standing room only. This was followed by a celebratory after party at 2Twenty2 tavern. we hope to pick up right where we left off this coming year!

Special emphasis will be placed on Chicago area filmmakers for festival programing. We on these filmmakers to help pack the house and we want to connect with you!

Inspired by 17th century philosopher René Descartes's groundbreaking revelations, Cartesian focuses on films that make it's audience question society and reality. We hope to create a filmmatic experience with each short leaving our audience with a new found perspective on what it is to be real and human.

This festival is operated for the good of filmmakers and is a non-profit endeavor!

IN ORDER FOR WORK TO SCREEN AT THE FESTIVAL A FILMMAKER MUST BE IN ATTENDANCE! A Filmmaker is defined as someone from the team that helped make the film. Ideally you would have more than one!
