Welcome to the Caribbean Film Festival, where the spirit of the Caribbean comes alive in an electrifying, week-long celebration of cinema and culture.

Caribbean Film Festival is a world-class destination film festival and the central hub for Caribbean cinema. Bringing islands together under a shared love for storytelling.

Our mission is focused on a strategic effort to ignite and energize the region's film and multimedia industry, fueling a fresh wave of film production and creative content throughout the Caribbean.

OUR STORY

A decade ago, our film festival - Africa Film TT - was established out of the desire to create a space where Caribbean voices could find inspiration from the cinemas of Africa.

More than a showcase, it became a platform for learning, growth, and building a future for local filmmakers and multimedia creatives. We have dedicated ourselves to providing the tools and opportunities needed to nurture talent right here at home.

Staying true to this mission, we have witnessed the transformative power of our work year after year. AFTT has solidified its position as one of the most respected and culturally significant film events in the region.

Now, we are proud to introduce the Caribbean Film Festival, a natural evolution of our mission. Not just a continuation of our work, the Caribbean Film Festival is a bold step forward towards the future of Caribbean cinema.

Our programming philosophy is rooted in showcasing films that explore the unique histories, cultures, and identities of the Caribbean.

Our selection criteria prioritize films that challenge conventional narratives, reflect untold stories, and offer fresh perspectives. We are cultivating a cinematic discourse that not only amplifies Caribbean stories but also situates them within a broader global context.

1. Films must have been completed after January 1, 2024
2. Submissions are open to filmmakers of Caribbean origin, descent, or those with films exploring Caribbean themes, culture, or heritage.
3. Films from other regions may be submitted provided they fit within the festival's programming philosophy.
4. All non-English language films must include subtitles in English.
5. Films must be submitted in digital format.

Thank you very much for having AN ISLAND :) Very proffesional venue. The team of the CFF were very clear and easy to communicate with. Every visual element, setup, speaks volumes about the thoughtfulness and artistry poured into this event. The way the branding captures the essence of caribbean cinema.

I had a wonderful experience at the Caribbean Film Festival. From start to finish, it was clear that a lot of thought and passion went into the planning. The screenings were of high quality, showcasing diverse stories from across the region and beyond. One of the standout features for me was the CFF Lounge, which served as a great space for filmmakers, distributors, and creatives to network, share ideas, and even informally pitch projects for potential collaborations.

The organizers also offered cultural tours between screenings, giving us a chance to explore and truly immerse ourselves in the vibrant culture of Trinidad and Tobago. It was a great balance of film, networking, and cultural experience.

I’m grateful I had the opportunity to participate and screen my documentary at such a promising platform. I truly believe this festival has the potential to become a staple in the Caribbean film circuit, and I’m excited to see how it grows in the years to come.

Thank you to the Caribbean Film Festival team for organizing what felt like an intimate yet expansive experience, with a diverse selection of films and workshops. It was a pleasure having my film 'Charlotteville Tails' as an official selection and seeing it on the big screen, with such an appreciative audience. I, and others, found that the documentaries that showed before and after it on the day were well-selected/paired. I was able to attend only one of the workshops (on funding) — intimate, informative and started on time. Unfortunately it was not possible to see the block of films that I wanted to view (happening at the same time). The venue (IMAX) offered easy parking and very comfortable seating, but as it is not a place that many people may have frequented, some who attended were unsure of where to go to get tickets, etc. Some simple explanatory signage on ground floor could help in that regard. The volunteers, however, were very helpful and pleasant with anyone who had queries. I enjoyed the Q & A's after screenings. A pity they could not have been longer, but this is understandable (as other films were scheduled). However, great idea to have the CFF lounge where people could gather to discuss further if they wanted to. Congratulations on this well-orchestrated inaugural event and best of luck for future endeavours.
