CAPITOL is a destination for Dancinephiles who want to see top quality technique, storytelling and creative expression on the big screen, and cultivate their own skills by connecting with industry leaders and those who are passionate about what they do. It's a total love-fest and dancefilm geek out!

2023 marks Dancinema’s 10th anniversary and we’re publishing an anthology of our selections from the past decade which will include all 2023 selected projects as well. We’re also distributing many special awards and acknowledgements. This is a massive effort and we want to commemorate this special anniversary properly, while giving all the appropriate attention and effort to old and new selected projects.

We will be launching our new 2023 selections in online programs with Dancinema, Capitol, and Cascadia branding and distribution. This will be our first season since 2016 not producing live screenings in a theater. This was a difficult choice resulting from weighing many factors and conversations with our team.

Our plan is to be back at Eaton DC in Washington, DC in 2024 and look forward to returning to our original home city, Vancouver, BC, Canada, for CASCADIA Dance & Cinema Festival in 2025 after the venue has completed renovations.

From the Director, Jen Ray: "The Dance & Cinema Festivals grew out of a desire to connect those involved & interested in the arts & industries of Dance & Cinema.  These art forms have incredible potential to communicate through movement & not only move viewers emotionally, but amplify & clarify each other  when intelligently combined. Dance and Film, through their science & essence,  beautifully enable & and elevate each other. The Festivals are focused on celebrating & sharing a high calibre & diverse range of programming."
