At the Calgary Justice Film Festival (CJFF), we present some of the world’s best justice focused documentaries on the issues that are important to us as individuals, Canadians, global citizens, and humans. We’ve brought influential documentaries from international filmmakers to more than 30,000 people, and thanks to our sponsors and donors, we’ve done it all free of charge to attendees.

Every screening includes an audience-driven discussion with a local facilitator, experts on the film topic, people with lived experience, or the filmmakers themselves. Bringing the topics home and learning about resources to take action are part of the joy of this festival. These conversations are lively, inclusive, and enlightening, occasionally charged or even contentious, but always thought-provoking.

Unfortunately, the pandemic got in the way of everything, but even with all that was happening, Marda Loop curated a strong selection and created a very special environment online to watch and discuss these amazing films. We were very proud to be part of it with our feature-length documentary "Servidão"/"Servitude", by Renato Barbieri.

A fantastic festival to be a part of for many reasons. It helps to have organizers who care deeply about getting the word out about selected films including ours - The Great Disconnect.

In the midst of the pandemic, Marda Loop Justice created a wonderful experience for our Alice Street team. It was an honor to be part of the festival and to show the film in Calgary!

Great festival run by great people who are motivated to promote interesting discussions and positive change.
Films are given individual attention, well promoted, and shown to enthusiastic audiences at cool venues. My screening was full and the discussion after was lively.
It's also the only festival I've been to where the screenings are free to attend. Very cool.
