The word Calamazú has its origin is a fairy tale that a mother used to tell her children before going to bed. Calamazú was a special world where every dream was possible.

The company was founded in February 2023 by members Carmen Bagalà and Vincenzo Giordano, respectively producer and film director. Calamazú is based in Locri, Calabria - Italy. The company has won the Invitalia call for funding "Cultura Crea 2.0" for the constituent societies of Southern Italy. The Founding is aimed at entrepreneurial initiatives in the cultural industry in the South of Italy.
