The aim of the Award is to create a bridge between the world of design and the one of cinematographic art, which represents nowadays not just a form of entertainment and narration, but also a reality able to involve and educate everyone interested to the world of design in its different forms of expression.
The Caesar Design Film Award to the value of €500,00 to the best short film of the selection, awarded by a technical jury composed of Ceramiche Caesar and experts in design, architecture, journalism and teaching.
CAESAR DESIGN FILM AWARD
1. Location and dates
1.1 The 4rd edition of Caesar Design Film Award will be held within the 8th edition of Ennesimo Film Festival, which will take place from May 1st to May 7th in Cinema Teatro Astoria in Fiorano Modenese(MO). Films will be publicly and freely projected on May 5th.
2. Award, organization, topic
2.1 The Caesar Design Film Award is supported by Ceramiche CAESAR, a worldwide recognized company, known since its foundation in 1988 for the high value of its production of materials in the service of design and architecture and as a qualified player in the dialogue with architects and designers.
2.2 The aim of the Award is to create a bridge between the world of design and the one of cinematographic art, which represents nowadays not just a form of entertainment and narration, but also a reality able to involve and educate everyone interested to the world of design in its different forms of expression.
2.3 The Award is realized in partnership with Ennesimo Film Festival and organized by Tilt Associazione Giovanile (TILT Youth Association), which will take care of the organisation.
3. Prizes and panel of judges
3.1 The panel’s decision will be final.
3.2 There only will be one winner for each selection category.
3.3 The following prizes will be awarded:
- The Caesar Design Film Award to the value of €500,00 to the best short film of the selection, awarded by a technical jury composed of Ceramiche Caesar and experts in design, architecture, journalism and teaching. The technical jury will take its decisions independently from the Award’s and Festival’s organization team and will follow the present regulations. Should it be considered appropriate, and in case the members of the panels asked for it, the festival’s Artistic Director can be consulted to explain matters regarding exclusively technical and regulatory aspects. Anyone who has participated in the making or the selection stage of any of the works will be excluded from the panel of the judges.
- Wannabe Designers Mention to the best short film in the competition awarded by a technical jury composed of university students from the faculties and schools of Architecture, Design, Graphics and Art selectioned via appropriate call. The panel will take its decisions independently from the Award’s and Festival’s organization team and will follow the present regulations. Should it be considered appropriate, and in the case the members of the panel asked for it, the festival’s Artistic Director can be consulted to explain matters regarding exclusively technical and regulatory aspects. Anyone who has partecipated in the making or the selection stage any of the works will be excluded from Wannabe Designers’ panel of judges.
3.4 Mention winners will not win a sum of money.
3.5 The Winner and the Mention Winner will be announced during the final evening of the Ennesimo Film Festival scheduled on May 5th, 2023 at Teatro Astoria (Fiorano Modenese, Modena).
4. Eligitibility of the works
4.1 Works up to 20 minutes (opening and closing credits included) are eligible for the competition, with no limitations regarding the genre and the topics covered, provided that they are concerning with the Design for Future topic.
4.2 Short films from any nation and in any language are eligible for the competition.
4.3 Only works produced after January 1st, 2020 will be admitted for the competition.
4.4 There are no limits regarding the number of works that can be presented, as long as all the applicants fill out a relevant entry form for each of them.
4.5 All works will be selected by the Artistic Directors and by other members of the festival organization, who forms the Selection Commitee.
4.6 The received works for this competition, even if they are excluded from CAESAR Design Short Film Award, could be taken into account for other selections of Ennesimo Film Festival, or any thematic events organized by Tilt Associazione Giovanile in partnership with cultural events of international significance. In this case, the holders of the rights of the works will be contacted in advance and the autorisation for the screening will be required.
4.7 The deadline for the submission is January 1st, 2023.
5. Selection
5.1 6 works will be selected.
5.2 Once the works have been selected, all relevant authors and directors will be notified by e-mail.
5.3 Once they are contacted, the shorts’ producers must complete the entry form in full and submit the materials required within the comunicated deadline. Any failure in the submission process entails the exclusion from the competition.
5.4 The selection of the works must be kept strictly confidential until the announcement of the official program of the festival.
5.5 Applicants who have not been selected will not receive any notice from the festival organization. A list of the selected works will be disclosed on the website, in the national press and on our social network pages. The festival will send a newsletter with the official selection.
5.6 The materials submitted during the selection phase may be used by the press (including online media), which will be in charge of writing articles related the 2023 edition and by the festival’s organisation itself, which is therefore authorized to post the contents on the official website and on social media channels. Audiovisual abstracts of each shorts - up to no longer than 15 seconds each -, can be used by the radio and by the local television (to create reports exclusively on the 2023 edition of the festival) and also by the organization itself, which will publish the information on the official website and on social media channels.
6. Materials and copyrights
6.1 All materials submitted for the competition will become part of the festival archive and of the TILT Associazione Giovanile video archive.
6.2 Every year, TILT Associazione Giovanile organizes the so-called “Ennesimo Tour” to present the short films to the widest possible audience and the festival organization commits itself to using the materials exclusively for cultural purposes and for events related to the festival.
6.3 In order to protect the rights of the authors and producers involved, no work will be used for commercial purposes- The authors’ consent will be required for any other use than specified herein.
6.4 The festival organization will adopt all necessary measures to protect the copyrights of the works entrusted to it, in compliance with the legal provisions governing audiovisual privacy.
7. Acceptance of the rules
7.1 The participation in the festival is strictly subject to compliance with its rules.
7.2 The submission to the competition implies the data entry in the Ennesimo Film Festival’s database, used for the newsletter send in case of official communications.
7.3 All applicants are required to guarantee that they are lawfully entitled to submit their materials to the festival.
7.4 The Artistic Director has the right to settle all the issues that fall outside the rules previously mentioed and to waive them in specific, well-mentioned cases.
7.5 The festival organization reserves the right to modify the rules (in relation to prizes, dates and number of selected works).
7.6 Any dispute or claim arising from personal interpretations of the rules will be settled according to the rules specified in the original Italian document.
