Upon submitting a film for consideration to Cabin In The Woods Film Festival the submitter acknowledges and agrees to the following:
1. Films submitted DO NOT have to take place in a cabin or in the woods.
2. Submission fees are non-refundable
3. All films MUST BE HORROR. Sci-fi, fantasy, mystery, comedy, thriller, action, adventure, and animated entries MUST have heavy horror themes and elements.
4. There is no limitation on how horrifying and gory films can be. However, hate rhetoric against any particular race, religion, or gender NOT BE ACCEPTED.
5. Films must not exceed 120 min in length (including opening and closing credits).
6. All films must have been completed within the last 2 years of the festival dates.
7. To be considered for the Sasquatch Award you must be a Washington State filmmaker and the location film must be within the borders of the Pacific Northwest states of Oregon, Washington, Idaho, or the Canadian province of British Columbia.
8. To be consider for the Leave Them Wanting More Award (Best Trailer) your the release date of your film MUST be AFTER the last day of the Cabin In The Woods Film Festival. Runtime less than 3 min & horror genre-oriented (spooky, bloody, or suspenseful). Must NOT have a credit roll at the end. The film awarded “Best Trailer” will be an Official Selection for next years festival.
9. Cabin In The Woods Film Festival only accepts submissions electronically, utilizing online screeners. This allows your film to be seen by the whole programming team and thus increases its chances of being selected.
10. Once your film has been selected for screening, Cabin In The Woods will send you a confirmation email that your film has made the official selection. Please read the email for instructions on uploading your film to our Dropbox folder so we have the full resolution of your film for screening.
Please install the Dropbox Desktop App (available at Dropbox.com) then upload your submission to the Shared Folder using the Dropbox App on your computer.
Submission File Format – 720-1080 p AAC Audio (.MOV or .mp4 file)
11. All films must be submitted in English or have English subtitles.
12. Entry must be received by 11:59 PM Pacific Time on the date of the deadline specified.
13. FILMS ON YOUTUBE, VIMEO, NETFLIX, ETC.: We want to show great films to our audience on a big screen in movie theater, that our audience can't see at home, because of this we do not accept films that have been released to and are available the public on YouTube, or other free sites. Unlisted and private YouTube videos and password protected Vimeo are allowed.
14. The submitter understands that submitting a film does not guarantee entry into the festival program.
15. Filmmakers can submit to both the Cabin In The Woods Festival (films screened at the cabin) and The Lady Bathory At Home spa Retreat (films screened online) if submitting to both, a separate completed entry is required for each title.
16. Should your film be accepted to Cabin In The Woods Film Festival, you grant Cabin In The Woods Film Festival the right to exhibit the film at the festival, and to make the film available via limited time and secure on-line streams to potential virtual ticket holders.
16a. You also grant the Cabin In The Woods Film Festival the right to use any footage from the preview screener, and all submitted publicity photos and any other materials pertaining to this entry for Cabin In The Woods Film Festival’s promotional non-commercial purposes, without limitations.
17. The submitter holds relevant copyrights for the submitted film and agrees to screen the film at Cabin In The Woods Film Festival should it be selected for the program.
18. Cabin In The Woods Film Festival only accepts submissions electronically, utilizing online screeners. This allows your film to be seen by the whole programming team and thus increases its chances of being selected.
19. Premiere status, especially in Seattle, Washington State, or the PNW, will be one of the factors considered by the selection committee when determining a film's inclusion in the festival.
20. By submitting, you're giving us permission to exhibit your film at the festival, and other screenings (like press previews, promotional events, "best of" screenings, etc.), if we select it for exhibition.
21. The individual or corporation submitting the film hereby warrants that it is authorized to commit the film for screening, and understands and accepts these requirements and regulations.
22. The submitter shall indemnify and hold harmless Cabin In The Woods Film Festival from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney’s fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and loss of or damage to the screening materials entered.
